from Jessica Gottlieb, School Counselor
I have now met with all grades 1-12 to introduce myself. In grades 1-4 I introduced myself through a story which I wrote about an elder who moved into a village and helped the children and grown-ups solve problems. I also showed the children my office.
Children in grades 1-4 can ask to meet with me through speaking to their teacher or me and, if appropriate, I will coordinate a time in collaboration with the teacher to meet with a child in these grades. Students grades 5 and above can ask to see me through leaving me a note in my box. I now have three boxes: one outside my door, one in the high school lounge, and one (coming soon!) to the lower school hallway. I will check the boxes on the days I’m in the office. My office hours are: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:30-3:30.

Knitting Our Community Together
|
|
We continue to accept donations for the yarn project at the front of the school or by mail.
We have one tree that is wrapped with the finger knitting/weaving we have received. It's coming along, but we'd love to cover even more of the tree. It's a great way for anyone, of any age to participate!

The Christmas Revels
from Marta Schley (Alum Parent and Former Faculty)
From Dec 10-12 and 17-19, Washington Revels brings The Christmas Revels back to the stage with a story rooted in the history of our region and our nation. The Christmas Revels will be staged in a new venue — the historic Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo Park in Glen Echo, MD; and for the first time, the video of a fully staged Christmas Revels production will be released for audiences to watch on demand from Dec 21-Jan 6.
Featuring an all-new theme highlighting American nineteenth-century seasonal traditions, this year’s Christmas Revels transports audiences back to December 1870 in Washington, DC. The holidays have arrived and in the elegant parlor of Senator Hiram Rhodes Revels — the first African American to serve in the U.S. Congress — the household is preparing for a party! With joyous carols, traditional melodies, heartfelt spirituals and toe-tapping dances, guests from all walks of life meet under the Revels family roof. In the midst of this camaraderie the merrymakers also take care of their Yuletide community — welcoming a traveler with an urgent request, seeking out a lost love, and comforting a melancholy man longing for the joy of the season.
