Please consider joining us this Lent for one of the many offerings presented during this Holy Season:
-Daily Morning Prayer, 8am. The 15 to 20 minute service will be said every day from our church via Zoom starting on February 18th. A Book of Common Prayer is required to follow the service. I will be at the door of the church on Church Street on Sunday, February 14th passing out prayer books (and ashes) from 10 to noon and Tuesday, 6pm to 7pm if you need one.

-Ash Wednesday, February 17th. The Liturgy appointed for the day will stream live on our YouTube channel at 9:00am. It will also be recorded. You are encouraged to impose ashes on yourselves and any who may live with you, at the same as I do on the video. You can obtain blessed ashes from me by driving to the church this Sunday, February 14th, between 10am and noon or (Fat)Tuesday, February 16th 6pm to 7pm. I will be standing at the church door on Church Street and will pass them to you through your car window. Prayerbooks on loan will also be available.
-Crossing the Divide: Brave Conversations about Race with Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
Many have commented that our country has never been more divided, at least in our lifetimes. This Lent we will step across that divide and have a frank conversation with our sisters and brothers in Christ, our friends, at the historically African American church here in Newton. This will be a Zoom conversation facilitated by The Rev. Canon Greg Jacobs, former Canon to the Ordinary in our diocese and The Rev. Vanna Fox from the North Carolina Council of Churches.
The dates for the dialogues are 5 Monday nights from 7:00 to 8:15. February 22, March 1, 8, 15, and 22. You must register to participate and commit to doing your best to attend each session. Register by sending me an email at
[email protected] containing you name, email address and cell phone number. I will then send you the zoom code. Expect some homework in this process.
Truth telling is difficult work, but Jesus has assured us that, "The Truth shall set you free" John 8:32
-Praying with the Canon. In my usual Youtube slot on Wednesday mornings, I will conduct a class on "How to Pray". This is intended for novices and experts alike. It will be recorded and posted sometime before noon for the six Wednesdays following Ash Wednesday.
