Ray-Pec Community,

Over the past three years, I have had the privilege of getting to know our team members in this school district. Through my interactions with teachers during classroom visits, along with the informal discussions I’ve had with other staff members in schools, on worksites, and in office spaces, I can honestly say that Ray-Pec is an outstanding place because of what the team does each and every day to serve and support students. We have made tremendous strides over the past few years, and our team keeps meeting the needs of our students in as many ways as possible.

With that as a backdrop, I am happy to inform you that the week of May 8 -12 is Teacher and Staff appreciation week, and I am asking you to be a part of celebrating our team.

One thought that remains true as I look back at all of those interactions with teammates is this:

Everyone is an educator and has played a critical role in our successes.

To highlight our team members, we have a communication video series called "Staff Spotlight." Staff Spotlight focuses on the stories of our teachers and support team members. These stories are told in the team member's own words and center on how we can continue to make a difference for Ray-Pec students, our teammates, and the community.

We have highlighted these team members on Staff Spotlight during this school year:

  • Katie Goodin, kindergarten teacher, Creekmoor Elementary School
  • Rachele Williams, behavior interventionist, Districtwide
  • Brandon Ransom, American history teacher, Ray-Pec High School
  • Adam Segura, theatre teacher, Ray-Pec East Middle School
  • Vickie Howe, parent educator, Parents as Teachers
  • Dr. Randy Randolph, principal at Ray-Pec South Middle School
  • Stephanie Barnes, special education teacher, Eagle Glen Elementary School
  • Sarah Hanf, English language learners teacher for elementary students
  • Jorge Arvayo, lead electrician in the Buildings and Grounds Department
  • Ryan Gooding, Director of Technology
  • Kymbre Westhoff, orchestra teacher, Ray-Pec High School and South Middle School
  • Dr. Alan Downing, instructional coach for grades 6-12 and incoming principal for the new Ninth Grade Center
  • Jenni Beck, counselor at Raymore Elementary School
  • Jennifer Ramirez, teacher at Ray-Pec Academy
  • Lindsay Bessmer, English Language Arts teacher at Ray-Pec East Middle School
  • Emily Pfaff, art teacher at Bridle Ridge Elementary School

I invite you to take a look at Staff Spotlight and hear the stories of some of our outstanding team members.

We are blessed to have so many outstanding people throughout this district.

As we begin appreciation week, I invite you to join me in thanking those who have been instrumental in your child’s education this year or have worked so hard behind the scenes to make that educational experience possible. The role of an educator is not an easy one. However, because of the people in this district, we have persevered and flourished through even the toughest challenges. Please take a moment to let those at our schools and offices know how much you appreciate all they have done to make this an excellent place for students.

Thank you for entrusting your children to the Ray-Pec School District.

Mike
