COVID-19 Vaccine Registration and Distribution Update
Click on the above image to view a recording of the Lake County Virtual Town Hall where vaccination efforts with medical experts were discussed, and questions from community members were answered.

The Lake County Health Department has reported more than 200,000 residents have registered to receive the COVID-19 vaccine on the AllVax Portal. The site opened last month to streamline the process of distributing vaccines to those who live or work in Lake County. Registration is free, easy, and secure. In addition to the website link above, registrations can also be completed by calling 847-377-8130. Notifications will be sent to those who register when they are eligible to schedule a vaccination appointment. Currently, Lake County is in Tier 1a for vaccination distribution. Following guidelines from the Center for Disease Control, this tier includes healthcare personnel and long-term-care facility residents. Visit the Lake County Health Department for updates, testing information, and to sign up for their weekly COVID-19 newsletter.

Project of the Year Award for RPC Road Reconstruction
The Village has been recognized by the Lake Branch of the American Public Works Association (APWA) with the Project of the Year Award for Transportation – Less than $5 Million for the Robert Parker Coffin (RPC) Road reconstruction completed in December of 2019. The RPC project involved rebuilding the roadway between Old McHenry Road and the covered bridge in the downtown, along with the construction of ADA-compliant sidewalks and addition of pedestrian lighting, benches, streetscapes and more. The APWA award promotes excellence in the management and administration of public works projects and acknowledges successful collaborations. The project spanned 18 months and presented many challenges, including its impact on businesses, residents, and visitors. The Village minimized disruptions to traffic flow and businesses by coordinating open and closed sections, and funded the project without incurring additional debt.

HDLGBA to Host Annual Cocoa Crawl
The Historic Downtown Long Grove Business Association (HDLGBA) has modified its 4th Annual Long Grove Cocoa Crawl with COVID-19 safety precautions in mind. The event will take place in the downtown area on February 6-7, 2021 with the addition of a mobile app to provide a safer experience for scavenger hunt participants. The cost is $20 for groups of up to six people, and registration is required. Please register at this link. Participants will receive a QR code to download an app that will guide them through the downtown district to complete the cocoa quest and will be entered in a drawing for prizes to be held Monday, February 8. Although no cocoa sampling will be allowed inside stores due to safety guidelines, many merchants will be providing complimentary pre-packaged cocoa-treats to enjoy at home. The HDLGBA is following State and local safety guidelines by requiring social distancing, mask/face covers, and by providing hand-sanitation stations.
