Readings:
Psalm 113
Genesis 25:19-28
Colossians 1:15-20

“Praise the Lord.” Does this sentence or statement easily slip by you? You probably have heard it so much, it quietly goes in one ear and out the other, or your eyes glaze past the words because they are so familiar to you, like the words; it, and, the, etc. But have you considered the power in these three simple words? How much would your life be altered if you intentionally “praised the Lord” daily? While you are waiting to celebrate Jesus’ birth, imagine if you began each morning sharing with God three things you are grateful for. Or for that matter, begin sharing with your spouse and/or children. Is there a better way to set the tone for the day?

Too many people get caught up in the “waiting” that is associated with Advent. Our loving God who is the ultimate promise keeper, is aware of our individual patience levels. So he supplied us with the gift of joy. There is a definitive difference between happiness and joy. One is an emotion, the other is a state of mind. Today, consider starting the wonderful practice of expressing three gratitudes each morning, and take notice how the world improves around you. “Praise the Lord.”
