Many of you will be familiar with Sam Clews, who has been with us for over 14 years. During that time Sam has worked in various posts but most recently as Technical Sales Specialist where he built up a wealth of experience in all our adhesives ranges, working with customers to solve technical application challenges and specifying in adhesive products. Sam is responsible for the Midlands and South West UK.

Momentive recently conducted a study, based on a major United States OEM test standard, to gauge the ability of its thermal gap fillers to remain in place; and to dissipate heat from electronic components in the high heat and extreme vibration conditions found in automobiles.  This white paper covers the tests carried out on three different Momentive SilCool™ thermal gap fillers as well as one pre-cured gel from a competitor.  Momentive's gap fillers were shown to excel at heat dissipation and remain in place, Unlike the pre-cured gel material that was tested, Momentive's gap fillers were able to demonstrate the ability to more fully crosslink with the substrate as the silicone cures to provide much better material anchoring.

 

There are multitude of different types of rubber compounds. Some rubbers can be very difficult to bond especially silicone rubber which because of its excellent high temperature resistance is a popular choice for o-rings, gaskets, cookware, ovenware, medical devices, and prosthetics. In this case study Techsil's RTV10533 silicone adhesive is used by two customers for several rubber bonding applications. The clear one-part adhesive provides very strong bonds over a wide temperature range, can bond to a number of substrates and is FDA compliant.
