NASA Harvest Experts Featured in NASA eClips Educational Video Series on EO Data Applications for Agriculture
NASA eClips is a NASA-supported project that brings together exciting video segments and resources with educational best practices to inspire and educate students to become 21st Century explorers. In the latest release of NASA eClips "Our World" and "Real World" features, NASA Harvest's Drs. Inbal Becker-Reshef, Catherine Nakalembe, and Hannah Kerner describe how NASA uses satellites to monitor crop development and ensure food security. The videos focus on STEM education for children in grades 3-5 and 6-8 and introduce the audience to topics in ecology and mathematics.
Our World: Where Do Crops Grow

This video encourages students in grades 3-5 to consider how ecology and geography influence why certain foods grow best in different locations. It also teaches the basics of EO imagery - what is a pixel and how spatial resolution determines what a satellite can "see".
Real World: Monitoring Food From Space

Geared towards students in grades 6-8, this video introduces how satellites collect imagery and how scientists utilize this data to monitor crop conditions through variables like NDVI. Students learn how data is used to inform decision-making and the importance of verifying analyses with ground truth data.
