Dear Gould Families,

As classes wrap today for the start of winter break and many students head home for the holidays, we wanted to look ahead briefly to January.

With the number of Covid cases around the country predicted to spike again after the holidays, we think it wise to delay the return of the third cohort. Boarding students returning to campus by car should plan to return on Sunday, January 17, or on Monday, January 18—instead of January 14. Please let us know if your circumstances make this shift difficult, and we will do our best to accommodate your family.

Students miss nothing by this later return; there is minimal programming on campus until classes resume on January 19, and these extra days give us a greater chance of having sufficient quarantine space if needed.
There may be a few scenarios of roommates in different cohorts that still do not fit neatly into the schedule, but we will contact those families directly to work out a suitable arrival day.

Please be aware, though, that the pandemic is a fluid situation and state guidelines and recommendations could change this plan further, as could Maine’s unpredictable January weather. We thank you for your flexibility and your patience.

Best wishes to all of you for the holiday season from all of us at Gould.
