Updates regarding Starr's Fall 2021 Programs and Services:

  • Career Advisement Sessions:
One-on-one virtual career advisement sessions are available. Log onto Starr Search and select the counseling appointment tab to schedule a meeting with an advisor for career advisement, resume reviews, mock interviews, vocational testing, tips on choosing your major, and strategies for job and internship search.

  • Programs and Workshops:
All career programs and workshops will be conducted virtually via Zoom. Please RSVP via Starr Search (under Events) to obtain the Zoom link to get more information.

  • Walk-ins
Walk-in sessions are available throughout the semester on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays start August 25th from 3 pm to 4:00 pm ET. These 15-minute sessions are available via Zoom on a first-come, first-served basis. Here is the Zoom link for the semester:  

  • Employer Information Sessions and On-Campus Recruiting/Interviews
All employer information sessions and campus recruiting activities will be conducted virtually. Visit Starr Search for the latest information on how to join these sessions.

The Starr Career Development Center's in-person hours are: Monday through Friday from 9 am to 2 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm. Tuesdays-Thursdays, Starr offers virtual evening hours and services until 7 pm. Requests for In-person services will be approved on a case-by-case basis by contacting 646-312-4670 or email us at careerdc@baruch.cuny.edu. When visiting our office, note that you will be expected to wear a mask.

Jeannette K. Watson Fellowship
Baruch’s JK Watson Campus Application Deadline: Monday, January 31, 2022 

The Jeannette K. Watson Fellowship is an innovative program that activates the potential of fifteen NYC undergraduates through personal, professional, and cultural exploration. The fellowship provides paid summer internships, mentoring, and enriched educational opportunities to promising Baruch College first-year or sophomore level students.

Each of the internships lasts 10 weeks and students can work in non-profit, government, and private enterprises. Summer programs include cultural activities in New York and workshops with civic and business leaders. Fellows will complete one summer internship overseas. Fellows receive annual funding of $6,000, $7,500, and $8,000, in addition to a $2,000 Discovery Fund to develop their personal, professional, and cultural potential.

Eligibility: Eligible students are 2nd-semester first-year or sophomores who are full-time students at one of JK Watson’s NYC partner schools. All applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and may not be more than 21 years old on February 22, 2022.

Investigative Documentaries: Uncovering the Truth

Girls Who Invest Summer 2022

Girls Who Invest is a nonprofit aiming to close the gender gap in the investment management industry by providing investment education and internship experiences to women of all backgrounds interested in the world of finance. We are currently accepting applications for our 2022 10-week Summer Intensive Program and our Online Intensive Program. 
Rising sophomores of all majors enrolled in or transferring to 4-year programs at U.S. universities are welcome to apply to both our Summer Intensive and Online Intensive Programs. Incoming first-years are welcome to apply for the Online Intensive Program.

Future Leaders in Public Service Internship Program
Application due January 14, 2022

Our nation’s current and future challenges make it imperative that the federal government recruit the next generation of public servants, especially with less than 7% of the full-time federal workforce under the age of 30.

The Partnership for Public Service, supported by Schmidt Futures, has created a new opportunity that will place students into the federal government over the summer to gain valuable work experience and make a difference for our country.

Participants in the program will receive:
  • A 10–12-week summer internship with two federal agencies and a variety of opportunities for students majoring in STEM, liberal arts, business, and more.
  • $4,000 stipend to help cover expenses.
  • Professional development sessions and networking events throughout the summer.
