THANKSGIVING ORDER PICK UP PROTOCAL
Because of the current pandemic situation, the health department is limiting the number of people who can be in our store at one time. To avoid risk to our staff and to other customers. we ask that you adhere to the following:
1) Everyone must be wearing a mask, no exceptions.
2) Be mindful of distancing - there are markers on the floor to keep people a safe distance apart.
3) PRE-ORDER AND PRE PAY: Call 630-887-4700 with a credit card. You will get your choice of pick up times, and your order will be collected at the will call table. If you come on time, no waiting in line.
4) If you do not have a prepaid order and a scheduled entry time, you may have to wait outside until someone leaves the store. Please don't bring the whole family - if there are several in one group inside, that means other customers are waiting outside.
In order for everyone to have a happy Thanksgiving and a happy rest of the year, we need
everyone to be considerate of the health of others.
5) If you do not feel well, please stay home.

GIVE THANKS WITH SEAFOOD!
This year we'll be giving thanks that 2020 is almost over. We know that most of you have turkey for dinner on Thanksgiving, but here are some wonderful appetizer ideas to keep everyone happy, even if the crowd is smaller. (Several of you are having stuffed salmon fillets instead of turkey - a turkey thanks you). We also have some delicious heat-and-eat side dishes that go wonderfully with your bird and some wonderful pies for dessert:
APPETIZERS
Burhop's famous shrimp, cooked in small batches with our own secret blend of spices. Serve with our wonderful cocktail sauce, by the bottle or in bulk.
Party Trays (24-hour notice required)
Burhop's Spreads
Choose from Shrimp, Crab-blend, Smoked Salmon and Smoked Whitefish. All made daily in our kitchen. Just add crackers and feed a crowd!

Cold smoked from Ducktrap Farms, great on buttered toast points, hot smoked custom done for us here in Chicago, delicious on a cracker.
Half-shell Oysters

Stone Crab Claws
The season has begun! These are the one seafood item which you can eat knowing the crab wasn't killed, and it's busy growing a new claw. Serve as an appetizer or a first course with our Stone Ground Mustard Sauce.

FIRST COURSE

PLEASE RESPECT EVERYONE...
We understand that times are stressful for us all. For Burhop's, it's especially hard, as our staff is on the front lines, dealing with the public 6 days a week. Ours is a small store, and we need to keep both our staff and our customers safe. So please. please do the following:
1) Wear a mask or face covering that covers your nose and mouth.
Many people, especially children apparently, can be asymptomatic, i.e. have no symptoms but are still spreading the virus. The people who refuse to wear a mask are being disrespectful to everyone they come into contact with. Just because you don't feel sick doesn't mean you're not spreading the virus. Nor does it mean that you won't eventually get sick.
2) Take advantage of our curbside pickup. $20 Minimum order
Just call with a credit card. 630-887-4700. Our fish and prepared foods are always fresh and premium quality - we will give you what you want (as long as we have it) with no contact required. We will also wrap fish for freezing, so you can have some handy for a future meal. (We had to institute a minimum as we were spending an inordinate amount of time on $5 orders).
3) If you want to come into the store. please LOOK FIRST, to see if there are already 8 customers in the store.
If there are already 8 customers (staff is extra), please wait outside until someone leaves. The entry way is covered, and the weather is warm - just be sure to leave a safe distance between yourself and the next person.
A few weekends ago we had 3 customers who refused to cover their faces at a particularly difficult time when the store was busy and our staff was forced to ask them to leave. We are happy to take phone orders from people outside the store, and we can deliver the order to your car. There is no need to put others at risk. We have a lot of customers who are older and more vulnerable, as well as staff in the vulnerable age group. At one point on a Saturday we had to close the store for 15 minutes to sanitize because too many people had been inside, including the unmasked.

may kill somebody else.

KEEPING OUR CUSTOMERS & STAFF SAFE...
With restaurants closed, we should have plenty of fish, though lack of air travel may affect some availability.
To ease the concerns of our customers and lessen risk to our staff, we are now offering the following special services:
1) Pre-paid phone orders with a credit card - we will have them ready when you arrive, no waiting. 630-887-4700. Just grab and go.
2) FREE CURB PICK-UP - Order with a credit card and tell us if you want it brought out to your car - just call as you arrive in front of the store and tell us what you're driving. We can also process your credit card at your car window. The wonder of wireless technology. And if you have a credit card with the internet symbol, you can just tap and go.
3) Phone orders, pay at pick-up. You still pay at the register, but your order is ready to go.
Want your fish for later? Ask us to wrap it for freezing.
Of course, you can just come in and shop as usual - we are constantly wiping down store surfaces, keeping things as pristine as possible. We ask that if you are not feeling well, or if you've been exposed to the virus, that you take advantage of the curbside pickup. Our staff is covering their mouths and noses, we ask that you do the same.
NO MORE THAN 10 PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED IN THE STORE AT ONE TIME, INCLUDING STAFF - SO PLEASE DON'T BRING THE WHOLE FAMILY!
We also have our prepared foods available for delivery through Doorddash - not our raw items, but sandwiches, soup, cooked entrees, prepared salads and side dishes. Some of our favorites recipes which are really quick and delicious involve frozen shrimp, easy to keep in the freezer. It takes a few minutes to thaw in a colander, and then just a few minutes to cook. Easy, delicious, good for you, too!

During the current health crisis, people's shopping patterns have changed, so we are temporarily changing our shopping hours as follows:
MONDAY: 10:30 am - 6:00 pm
TUES., WEDS. & THURS.: 9:30 am - 6:00 pm

SATURDAY 9:30 - 5:30
SUNDAY: 10:00 - 3:00
We are open again Sundays, shorter hours, and will close a half hour earlier on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We will maintain normal hours on Friday and Saturday.
SENIORS: Senior discount days are Sunday and Monday, so we would like to encourage our senior (over 65) customers to come in on Sunday or Monday mornings before noon, and for our non-senior customers to come in later in the day, to give seniors a feeling of greater security.
Seniors, please remember to ask for your discount, we don't want to ask anyone's age. Stay healthy!

In late June we catered a fun event for a family in Wilmette - a combined 40th and 5th birthday party, father and son. Another father and son duo, Burhop's Chef Jaime and his son Jonny, cooked up kebabs, lobster tails, sweet corn and more for a happy crowd of many ages. According to the hostess:

Recently we did an oyster bar for a party in Hinsdale, and a lobster tail birthday party in Kenilworth.
And in early October, we did a socially distanced wedding reception with individual lobster boil dinners.
