GENERAL
MOVIE NIGHT AT PEN
Mark your calendars for Pen's inaugural movie night TONIGHT at 7:00 pm. Click here to purchase tickets through the student webstore. If you have any issues accessing the webstore, email Ms. Croucier at [email protected]. Only 72 cars are allowed to attend due to social distancing rules. Only seniors will be allowed to purchase tickets during the first 24 hours of the sale. If there are any tickets left over, juniors, sophomores and freshmen may purchase tickets. The cost is $20 per car and the movie is Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Cars may enter only at the Hawthorne Blvd. entrance (driveway #1). Cars will be allowed to enter starting at 6:00 pm today. Students must wear masks and show their COVID "green screen" plus student ID through rolled up windows. You may access the COVID-19 self-screener here. County protocol mandates no gathering outside of cars. Students may only leave their cars to use the restroom and remain 6 feet apart from other attendees.
 
SING OUT
Always wanted to sing, but terrified to audition? Here's your chance-due to the pandemic, all students are welcome to sign up for choir without an audition. You may sign up for Chamber Choir, Women's Treble Choir, or Chamber/Jazz Chorale and Mr. Doctor will work with you to secure your spot. Email him at [email protected] with questions.

TEENS TEACH TECHNOLOGY
Help teach seniors the basics of social media, daily applications and internet safety through Teens Teach Technology, California chapter. There are opportunities to give back to the community as well as strengthening your public speaking skills through online appointments with libraries and nursing homes. BOEING SUMMER INTERNSHIP
There will be virtual information sessions this year on March 1st, 9th, 17th, and 25th all at 6:00 pm to let students and parents know about the Boeing Summer Internship program which runs June 21 to August 5. Contact Mr. Twiet at [email protected] for additional material and any questions.
 
JAMAICAN FISH FRITTERS
Bring a taste of the Caribbean to your table at the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee's cooking class this Saturday, Feb. 27 at 11:00 am. Taught by a Panther family, you'll learn the secrets of making Jamaican fish fritters. Register here.
 
PTSA HONORARY SERVICE AWARDS
You may nominate individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions to Pen so they may be considered for the PTSA's Honorary Service Awards. Deadline for nominations is this Monday, March 1 and may be emailed to [email protected]. More information is available by clicking here.
 
PTSA BOOK CLUB
The second virtual meeting of the PTSA book club will be Thursday, Mar. 11 at 11:00 am when Bryan Stevenson's Just Mercy will be discussed. COLLEGE CAREER CENTER
COLLEGE ESSENTIALS TOOLKIT SERIES
California Public College Options is the topic when the Toolkit series resumes February 25 at 6:30 pm online. Learn the differences between the California public colleges which include the UC, Cal State and community college systems and more. Financial aid and cost to attend will also be discussed. F.A.F.S.A. PRIORITY DEADLINE
Attention Seniors! The FAFSA priority deadline for California colleges and universities is Tuesday, Mar. 2. If you are receiving notices about GPA verification, PVPUSD has already verified your GPA for Cal Grant unless you opted out last year. SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SENIORS
Now is the time to apply for local scholarships. Many generous scholarships are available from PTA, PEF, PV Rotary, PV Juniors, PV Lions, Kiwanis, South Bay Panhellenic Alumnae and more and are posted on Naviance. Don't delay; deadlines to apply are in the next few weeks. Many scholarships lapse because no one applies by the deadline. This is peak scholarship season, so don't let the opportunity pass.

SWIM TEAM TRYOUTS
Brush up on your backstroke and work on your butterfly. Swim team tryouts are on Monday, Mar. 1 at the pool from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. If interested, email Coach Katie at [email protected] by TODAY at 5:00 pm. A current proof of physical is needed to tryout.
