What's happening this week at St. Paul's

July 23-29, 2023

Upcoming Events & News

New Directory: We are in the final stages of printing directories and making them available to the congregation. Several members are being contacted for permission to make a change to their privacy settings in Realm (our Church Manage Software) in order to be included in the directory. Once everyone has been contacted, we will print copies and have them available in the Narthex for you to pick up.

Choral Evensong: Members of our choir will offer Choral Evensong on Sunday, July 23rd at 5:00 pm with Sarah Harmon officiating.

Coffee Hour: After the service, everyone is invited to the Parish House (two lefts at the bottom of the steps) for refreshments and fellowship. We promise you will still be able to beat the Baptists and Methodists to lunch afterwards.

Bible Study: Kristian Ameigh is leading a bible study that began on Sunday, July 9th at 2pm. Material will be obtained from The Gospel According to Improv by Les Carpenter; you are not required to purchase the book to attend the study.

Potluck Pool Party: How are you all coming with our Summer Assignment from Fr. Jim? Not as well as we should have? Here is our chance! Steve and Amanda Stalker will host a St. Paul’s Potluck Pool Party, and all we have to do is bring at least one friend or neighbor who does not attend St. Paul’s! Let’s show our friends and neighbors a wonderful time with an old fashioned St. Paul’s pool party. Yes, I said old fashioned. These started back in the 70’s with our Mom and Dad, every Sunday afternoon. It will be August 13th from after church until 5-ish. ONLY 1 Requirement: Bring someone who does not attend St. Paul’s & their kids if any. Hamburgers and hotdogs provided, bring whatever else you want (for the potluck) and BYOB! -Steve & Amanda Stalker, Suzanne Magouyrk and Kristian Ameigh.

Care Team Collection: The Care Team will be collecting personal care items to be distributed. There will be a basket to collect items at the front of the church as well as a box in the church office. Items to bring can include: travel size toothpaste and toothbrushes, dental floss, Kleenex, soap, shampoo, hand sanitizer, wipes, washcloths, deodorant, sunscreen, bug spray, feminine hygiene products and other toiletries.

Blessing Box: Donations for non-perishable food items are needed for our Blessing Box, previously known as the Little Library. Foods that are ready to eat and pop top items are suggested. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Lector Signup: There will be a signup sheet in the Narthex for members to sign up to be a lector for the 10:30 services in the fall; you can also contact Sarah Harmon to be added to the list. Training will be held after Labor Day before rotation begins.

Bishop Candidate Meet-and-Greets: Four churches across the diocese are hosting meet-and-greet sessions with the candidates for the 14th Bishop of Arkansas: The Rev. Canon John T. W. Harmon (Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington, DC) and The Rev. Mary Vano (St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Little Rock).

Friday, August 4th, 5:30 p.m. St. Alban’s, Stuttgart 1201 S Main St.

Saturday, August 5th, 11 a.m. St. Mark’s, Jonesboro 531 W College Ave.

All are invited to attend one or more sessions to get to know the candidates. The candidates will be asked questions submitted prior to the Q&A sessions (questions will not be taken from the floor).
