A worship service created and offered by UUA leaders from around the country.
What if to “side with love” meant making bold, faith-full choices? What if it were even a little bit scary? This worship service brings together worship leaders and musicians from across the country to offer hopeful, moving, challenging reminders about what we, as Unitarian Universalists, are called to do, and BE, in the world.
This service video will be posted on the FUUSB YouTube channel and websiteat 10 a.m. as usual, and will be available to watch at any time… and, Rev. Tricia and Christina will host a Zoom “watch party” at 10 a.m. for those who want to participate in the service together. Join us at zoom.us/j/96297857088. Coffee hour will follow the service at this same Zoom link. We expect coffee hour to begin at about 11 a.m.
To join us by phone (for audio only), call (929) 205-6099 (meeting ID: 962 9785 7088). (For those outside the northeast US, find your local number at zoom.us/u/ac3J68FO8Z.)
Coffee Hour Circles
Hope Baker-Carr, Caring & Belonging Team
Please note: This Sunday, February 28, Coffee Hour will begin immediately following the service at the same Zoom link as the service (zoom.us/j/96297857088). We expect coffee hour to begin at approximately 11 a.m.
As most of you know, Coffee Hour happens from 10:45 a.m. til noon every Sunday. At 11 a.m. participants divide into the first of two breakout groups to continue connecting. For the next three weeks, if you join Sunday coffee hour on Zoom by 11 a.m., we're offering the option of an additional way to experience the hour.
Coffee Hour Circles, an offering of the Caring and Belonging Team, will last from 11 until noon, with a facilitator holding space for a slightly more structured time of checking-in and reflecting on the service, amongst 6-10 participants. Time will be shared as participants take turns speaking and listening. In the spirit of offering many ways to connect, we hope these Circles facilitate deeper connection as well as personal reflection on the topic of the day. For those drawn to this model, we welcome your participation and feedback!
Knitting Group
The knitting group will have their second Zoom get-together on Tuesday, March 2 from 7-8 p.m. This is a social group that welcomes all levels of knitters or crocheters to simply share ideas, chat, and get to know each other while working on current projects. Winter Vespers Series
Rev. David Ruffin, Consulting Minister
Our Winter Vespers Series will continue next week on Wednesday, March 3 at 6 p.m.
Vespers services are an opportunity for any in the FUUSB community, and friends, who seek a sacred pause mid-week to connect with self, one another, and what inspires us on our journeys. We share music and meditative silence, poetry and presence, gratitudes and griefs, breath and blessings. And laughter, too. Though we can't meet in person, we can still be together, sharing these gifts of renewal. Come as you are. All are welcome. Join us on Zoom at this link: zoom.us/j/91243888402
Or for audio only, call (646) 876-9923 (meeting ID: 912 4388 8402). If outside the Northeast, find your local number at zoom.us/u/aeaJZdoB8
Climate Justice Team Event: Heat Pumps
What in the world is a heat pump? A heat pump can pull warmth from cold air outdoors in winter and pull cool air from the hottest day in summer. Heat pumps help our climate because they burn less carbon than a traditional heater. They are 2-3 times more efficient at moving energy than a combustion heating system. Please come with questions to a 1-hour Zoom session on Wednesday, March 3 at 7 p.m. to learn more about it from Chip Patullo, Certified Energy Manager. Chip has been an energy consultant for 40 years, and has his own heat pump that he has used successfully for 2 heating seasons.
Sign up with Linda Cooper, [email protected] or text to 922-7554. See you there.
Please join us for our monthly online chapel before the worship service. See old and new friends, share your joys and sorrows, hear stories, and have fun together, while exploring the March monthly theme, Commitment. Geared towards children and their families. Parents/caregivers are welcome to participate or not, but should be nearby if younger ones need help unmuting, etc. Zoom link: zoom.us/j/91250859555

From the Immigration Justice Team
Kim Watkin, Immigration Justice Team
The Immigration Justice Team would like your help with the case of Javier Castillo Maradiaga! Please call the NY ICE Field Office Director Thomas Decker at 212-264-4213 and/or send messages to our Congressional members Leahy, Sanders, and Welch to express support for the release of Javier Castillo Maradiaga (A# 095-487693). Relevant facts - Javier has been detained since Dec. 2019 after being stopped and frisked for jaywalking by the NYPD. The charges against him were later sealed and dropped, but after being detained for two days, he was then turned over to ICE. Javier was brought to the U.S. by his parents at age 7 from Honduras, and has lived with his family in the Bronx for the past 20 years. Javier had DACA status, but allowed it to lapse in 2019 because he was afraid of attracting attention to himself and his family. If he is deported, he will leave behind a mother, niece, and sister, all of whom are essential workers and DACA protected. Javier should be allowed to return to his family so he can be a productive member of his community.
