"National Night Out" Next Tuesday
National Night Out (NNO) is next Tuesday, October 1. Lakeway residents will be celebrating with more than three dozen organized neighborhood events throughout the City of Lakeway from 4 p.m. until about 8 p.m. that evening. Over 1,000 residents are expected to actively participate. Lakeway police officers will be in various neighborhoods throughout the evening to provide tips on crime prevention awareness and encourage residents to participate in local anti-crime programs.

NNO is an annual event designed to strengthen our community by encouraging citizen engagement with their neighbors and with the police. The event helps send a message that our neighborhoods are organized and take a stand against crime. It’s also an opportunity to get to know your neighbors. NNO has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships to keep our city safe.

For more information on how you can participate, contact Mike Conley, Lakeway Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association Director at [email protected] .

City Park Photo Contest Winners
Earlier this year, Lakeway City Park celebrated its 25th anniversary. During the month-long event a photo contest was held by the Arts Committee to highlight some of the natural beauty within the community. Residents were encouraged to submit striking images of Lakeway’s geological and scenic features. Judges selected a first and second place winner from each category. Congratulations to Joe Bain, who took Grand Prize with his stunning aerial photo titled "Hurst Creek" (photo to the left). To see a larger version of this grand prize winner and to see a display of winners from each category, please visit City Hall, 1102 Lohmans Crossing. A large display with all winners is currently in the front lobby though the beginning of October.

A big thank you to all residents who participated in this exciting contest!

NEW: Code Team Cleans Property

The Code Compliance Team is taking a new approach in addressing unsightly and potentially dangerous code violations across the city. Not only are they proactively meeting with and working with property owners, but often times they are taking matters into their own hands to help alleviate the problem.

Recently, the team set aside an entire morning to address an illegal dumping issue on the undeveloped lot on Seawind by helping the property owner remove 6 truckloads of cut branches from the site. The lot no longer poses a health, safety and fire hazard to the neighboring homeowners and the owner will be able to post “No Trespassing” signs on the property in addition to other proactive measures to keep unwanted illegal dumping activity off the site. Code Compliance along with Lakeway PD will continue to monitor the area to ensure situations like this do not arise.

If you have a community concern you would like to address with Code Compliance, contact them by calling 512-314-7550 or visit their webpage .
