CCS Families In the Know

Two special employees were celebrated on Thursday, March 23rd

for going above and beyond.

Mr. Earl Manning, Plumber for Facilities Support was recognized for his commitment to excellence. His supervisor shared the following, “It is an honor to recognize Earl Manning as our Essential Piece. Earl is the definition of Facility Maintenance. His outstanding work ethic is a true asset to our team. On any given day, you will find him completing work orders as soon as they come in, performing preventative maintenance without being asked, turning in perfectly completed paperwork, working late to get the job done, and helping co-workers, all while keeping a smile on his face and a pleasant attitude. Earl will rarely miss work unless it involves his pride and joy, his granddaughter Ava. Earl is a great dad and "Poppie" and goes above and beyond at home, as well as at work. Facility Maintenance is a better department because we have someone like Earl working with and representing us. “

Ellen Hargett, School Secretary at West Craven Middle was spotlighted for her amazing customer service. Her principal shared the following, “This is Ellen Hargett's first year as a school secretary but you could never tell it. The first day she started, I walked up to assist her, only to find her answering the phone, explaining to a parent our expectations here at West Craven Middle School, handling a student who was in crisis mode, and directing a visitor of the protocol for entering the building. She hit the floor running and has not let off the gas since. Because of Ms. Ellen, our school day runs efficiently and effectively and we could not manage the day to day operations without her. She is an Essential Piece to the success of West Craven Middle School.”

Thank you both for all your hard work and dedication to being the best!

FAFSA is Open!

The 2022-2023 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) cycle is open!

Completing the application is a necessary step for prospective college students to receive financial aid. Not only does it make you eligible for federal aid, such as Pell Grants or work-study programs, but North Carolina’s colleges and universities also use the form to divvy up state aid.

The form is open until June 30, 2023. Many North Carolina schools give out aid on a first-come, first-served basis, so it’s best to fill it out as soon as possible, even if you haven’t finalized your plans.
