Want a Challenge?

Myrt Creigh

There’s a small book that I’ve read several times I’d like to share with you. It’s entitled Journey to the New Jerusalem - A Study of the Second Coming of Christ by Tommy C. Higle. Available on Amazon or Journey series.

For years I’ve studied the book of Revelation and have been intrigued how John was lead by Jesus to write the end times prophecy. I remember when Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins came out in 1995 with the Left Behind series. There were 13 books in the series and the first two were published immediately but the others stretched out over time. My son, Rich and I were reading the series and could not wait until the next book came out….the final book came in 2007. So you see it was over a 12 year period…no wonder we were impatient!

Since Tim LaHaye’s passing in 2016 other pastors have picked up on his quest to bring the prophecy to the world. As a side note, Jerry Jenkins was the writer for the series while Tim LaHaye brought the biblical scriptures to the forefront. What’s interesting is Jenkins is the father of Dallas Jenkins who produces The Chosen series. I think it’s amazing how God has used these two men to bring scripture alive and real to the rest of the world through literature and film.

Paul Lalonde (Cloud Ten Pictures) has produced the Left Behind (film series) starring Kirk Cameron. It can be found on YouTube. If the book of Revelation peaks your curiosity give it a look.

Scholarship Committee Update

Sydney Browne writes, “I have been in awe of the endless support I received from New Life in Christ Church. Just as I strived to support the church through volunteering, youth group, and mission trips in my youth, New Life in Christ has helped me in countless ways ranging from personalized care packages to financial support through the Dieffenwierth Memorial Scholarship award. I am incredibly fortunate to have received this scholarship in the past, which has had a monumental impact on my educational journey.”

Randy Buck writes, “I cannot express enough my thankfulness for the unwavering support the church has provided me thus far. Thanks to your generosity, I was able to graduate Cum Laude from a challenging program and received the first-place prize in my competitive senior capstone project. The church’s support has empowered me to surpass my own expectations and achieve milestones I never thought possible.”

A Word from Worship

Greetings New Life Church family --

With the early summer temperatures soaring into triple digits it seems like the decision to welcome the 8 o'clock worship service inside the air-conditioned sanctuary was a good decision. I hope everyone has located and used our new Offering Boxes in both the sanctuary and the Life Center the past few weeks. Please let us know if you have any questions.  This Sunday we will have written instructions available for you on how to get on the church app to sign in for worship or other events. Check at any of the entrances or ask an usher for this information sheet.

Please remember that you can still purchase altar flowers to be given in honor of - or in memory of a loved one. The flower cost for two arrangements is $60 and you may take them following the last worship service.  To sign up for available dates or for more information you can contact me or Gail in the church office.

I recently recorded a few radio spots on iHeart Radio as part of their one hour Magazine program on Medicare. They graciously give our church a few minutes weekly to talk about events happening at our church - so of course I talk about prayer and the power it's had in my life. Recently, when they asked me to share something, God encouraged me to share a few devotionals. Needless to say I've been reading many books, looking for something to share. The blessing is always reviewing the basics of prayer and remembering prayer tips I learned when I was trying to develop a serious attitude about prayer. Simple but profound prayer tips about the reason we need to pray. When Matthew 6:5-15 says, "Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him." Some would question why then do we have to pray? The answer is simple and to me, so comforting. God, in His grace, has given us the privilege of being His partner in both physical and spiritual areas of life. To think that through prayer we work with Him to help defeat evil and bring about His loving purpose in life. Partners with God - what a privilege! And what an incentive to pray! That's when I realized how important this prayer tip was, PUSH: "Pray Until Something Happens." Sometimes we are in a rush for answers and we have to be patient for God's guidance. God's standard of time is different than our impulsive instincts. His timing is always perfect and we learn in Hebrews 6:12 "Be like those who through faith and patience will receive what God has promised."

Have a blessed and beautiful week. I'm praying for you!
