Happy New Year! I hope you were all able to enjoy your holiday season, despite how different it might have looked (again) this year. As we start 2022, some of you might be setting New Year’s Resolutions. Personally, I have struggled with resolutions…for me they seem so black and white and like a set up for failure. In recent years, I have started setting intentions instead. This has definitely helped me to be kinder to myself while trying to grow and make changes.
As I write this, I have not yet set my personal intentions for 2022, but I have started thinking about my professional intentions for the year. We all have a lot coming at us these days with increases in COVID cases (again) and workforce shortages. Is anyone else feeling fatigued yet from all of this???
I would challenge you to think of a professional intention for this year that will help you to stay in a mindset that allows you to continue to help others. Maybe you will try to set aside one day a week when you actually step away from your computer or desk to have lunch. Maybe you will try to be more present when talking with your coworkers or staff instead of rushing on to put out that next fire that just popped up. Or maybe it is taking time to connect with others in similar situations to vent or discuss solutions to issues you are having.
I hope that you can find intentions, personal and professional, that set you up on a positive path heading into 2022. I hope we can continue to connect in person through GRAPE, and maybe help you work towards one of your 2022 intentions, or goals, or resolutions. I wish you all peace and good health as you move into 2022.
