What HOPE Looks Like • January 2021
THANK YOU to everyone who was part of our fall Challenge Match. We are delighted to say that we had outstanding community support and were able to meet the challenge! The details are still being processed and we expect to have a more detailed report (and thank-you notes) by next month. Thank you as well to the Community Endowment of Lexington for the most recent Capacity Building Grant that will help us build a more solid foundation - we are buoyed by this community support! We are likewise grateful to Maitreyee Chakroborty, Mona Roy, and all the artists in Soul to Soul for their wonderful fundraising performance gifted to the Munroe Center for the Arts last month. We know that we will continue into the new year with challenges presented by the current pandemic, but our hope remains strong for a vibrant 2021 where we can all LEARN • FLOURISH • ENJOY because of the arts. Stay tuned for next month's newsletter and a report on 2021 goals and priorities being set now by the MCA Board of Directors.

Keep reading to see what classes, public art & performances, and volunteer opportunities we have for you this month. . .
Classes

Join us for an exciting line-up of both online and small, in-person classes beginning January 11.

ArtSpan winter registration is now open! Don’t miss the chance to rejoin your favorite class, brush up on your creative skills, or to try something new. This season we are offering many new classes, including recycled art workshops and puppet making for little ones!

Registration is also open for our all-new February Vacation Program. Join us February 15 - 19 as we delve into the world of Mythical Monsters, Gnomes and Fairies (ages 7 - 10), or inspire your teen with a painting or ceramics class for the week.
Dance Inn registration is open with its regular selection of classes for youth and adults for its 12 week winter session now through early April.

NEW this semester is a class for 4 year olds, and a virtual adaptive class for kids with special needs ages 8-13.

The Lexington Music School will be adding another section for group piano classes this winter in addition to its regular offerings in voice, strings, and piano classes. Email for details.

Weaving Connections
An Evening of Storytelling

We look forward to being back by the fireside next year, but this January we invite you to sit back in the comfort of your own home to be entertained by the stories of 5 different storytellers.
An online event
Community Art

Watch this space as ArtWalk continues on with some winter outdoor art. Next week will see the results of community surveys for words translated into public art and placed at Emery Park in the Center, and the Stone Building in East Lexington.

Thanks to Eric Michelson for his carpentry work, as well as DCU, Enterprise Bank, Cambridge Trust, and the Chinese American Association of Lexington (CAAL) for helping to support this project.

We invite you to pick up a paintbrush and join us in this project, or others that we have planned for the rest of the winter to keep our spirits up. This week we are working on building HOPE. Get your selfie sticks ready!

It's never too late to support the arts!
Donations of any size are accepted with gratitude and put to good use in maintaining our building and operations this year.
