SB 114 REINSTATES COVID PAY
On 2/9/2022 Gov. Newsom signed into law SB114 which provides that retroactive to 1/1/2022, employers with 26 or more employees may have to pay up to 80 hours of Supplemental Paid Sick Leave benefits to employees who incurred lost time due to COVID. This applies to FT and PT employees, those who become sick as a result of getting vaccinated, and employees who care for a family member with COVID. The law remains in effect until 9/30/2022.

MED-LEGAL REG 36.7 EXPIRED
Emergency AD Regulation 36.7 allowed for electronic service of medical-legal reports. However, that law expired on 2/18/2022. Recently on
3/1/2022 the DWC posted for public comment a new version of AD Reg. 36.7 which will permanently allow for electronic service of medical-legal reports. Assuming there is little opposition, the new proposed rules should become law by April/May.
[COMMENT: Once the new Reg. 36.7 becomes law, a summary will be addressed in our next newsletter.]
