PPOA representatives were proud to join hundreds of fellow labor leaders at the California Fraternal Order of Police (CAFOP) State Conference, August 21-23. The CAFOP represents nearly 17,000 law enforcement personnel throughout the state and all active PPOA members are part of California FOP Lodge 1. Attendees from PPOA included 1st Vice President Jose Rios, Board Member Joe Barnett and Intake Representative Kevin Thompson. With them in the photo is National FOP President Patrick Yoes.
At this conference, a special presentation acknowledged the lifelong commitment of the outgoing CAFOP President Roger Mayberry, who dedicated the last 22 years as leader of that organization. Mayberry is also a former PPOA president and a retired LASD lieutenant. While he is stepping away from his state leadership role, Mayberry remains Director of Labor Services for the National Fraternal Order of Police with oversight of bargaining contracts in 20 states.
PPOA members have long benefitted from our longtime affiliation with the Fraternal Order of Police, the world's largest organization of law enforcement officers, with more than 364,000 members in more than 2,100 lodges nationwide.
An important note regarding FOP membership for retired PPOA members: Once a sworn PPOA member retires, and he/she wishes to reactivate their FOP member/benefits, the following steps must be taken:
To reactivate your membership as a retired peace officer, you will need to pay FOP annual dues of $40 for 2022. The link below is available to pay online should you wish to expedite the process. If by check, the mailing address is:
