Albany Academies Mask Policy
 
The New York State Department of Health recently updated mask guidelines for New York State schools. Given this, effective March 2, 2022, The Albany Academies is adopting a mask optional policy. Below is the school's policy regarding the use of masks in schools as a mitigation tool for COVID-19 transmission.

  • Per CDC guidelines, individuals 2 years or older who are not up to date with COVID-19 vaccines are strongly encouraged but not required to wear a mask indoors while at school.
  • Individuals 2 years or older who are up to date with COVID-19 vaccines are strongly encouraged but not required to wear masks indoors when the risk of COVID transmission is “substantial” or above.
  • Individuals are considered up to date with their vaccination status when they are eligible for and have received a booster shot in addition to an original series of vaccinations for COVID-19. The CDC risk level for COVID transmission by county can be found at:

 
  • At the discretion of the Head of School, The Albany Academies reserves the right to require masking of all or some individuals on campus during times of elevated risk of viral transmission.
  • Individuals with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 may also be required to wear a mask depending on circumstances.
  • Individuals returning to school after 5 days of isolation of a confirmed positive cases are required to continue to wear a mask for days 6 - 10.
  • This is a school-wide policy. However, at the discretion of the Head of School, The Albany Academies reserves the right to require masking in spaces where there is a known, elevated risk to an individual with significant underlying health concerns.
  • Masks are not required outdoors.
  • Masks are not required on school buses.
