CDC Mask Order for Public Transportation
In response to the Biden Administration Executive Order, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) issued an order that requiring the wearing of a mask while using public transportation and while at transportation hubs. There are some exceptions allowed for people with disabilities (see page 5), similar to those previously communicated. Chapters operating in areas relying on public transportation should review closely, as this new order might require additional education for individuals and staff regarding what to expect when using public transportation. Additional information can be found here.

CDC Report on Pharmacy Partnership Program and National Vaccination Rates
The CDC published a report detailing the national vaccination rates of residents and staff members in Long Term Care Facilities (LTCFs) as part of the Pharmacy Partnership for LTC Program. A median of 77.8% of residents and 37.5% of staff members have received at least one dose of vaccine through the program. The data collected was for the period of December 18, 2020 to January 17, 2021.

The report essentially supports what we already suspect about the vaccination administration. Staff are getting vaccinated at very low rates. Admittedly, there are some factors to consider regarding the data in this report (detailed on page 3). However, the staff percentage is fairly consistent with what we are seeing throughout The Arc New York, keeping in mind that our data is for any means of vaccination (including the PPLTC program as well as vaccination at LHDs, FQHC facilities, hospitals, etc.).

We will continue to gather vaccination data and issue weekly reports to Chapters on the progress of vaccine administration.

This and all related updates will be cataloged on The Arc New York COVID-19 Resource Page for future reference. Please contact us if you have questions regarding any of this information.
