Principal's Message
Happy Spring, Owl Families!

The weather is warming up, the landscape is changing, and our students are in full bloom! Our 3rd-8th grade students have been working hard to show us what they know on the Colorado state assessments, and our Kindergarten -2nd grades have stood by to cheer them on along the way. One of my favorite parts of Aspen Ridge is witnessing a community of staff, students, and parents come together to provide support and encouragement while working towards a joint mission. We are a student-centered community. We have the great honor of witnessing our students learn and grow each day through academic, social, and emotional gains at Aspen Ridge.

Our staff continues to go above and beyond to keep our students safe, engaged, and enjoying school! We are excited to show our gratitude for our staff's work each day the week of May 2nd! We are still looking for volunteers to help make this week extra special. If you are interested, please click HERE to sign-up!

In conjunction with Staff Appreciation Week, we have some great community events on the horizon. The Spring Book Fair will take place May 3rd-5th and will be open for purchases before and after school. Click HERE to volunteer to help with the Book Fair! On Tuesday, May 3rd, Aspen Ridge students will have the opportunity to participate in our annual Super Hero for Cystic Fibrosis by donating one dollar and dressing as their favorite superhero. Mrs. Zehnder's nephew, Stevie, was born with cystic fibrosis. He and other people with Cystic Fibrosis need superheroes like us to help find a cure. 100% of the money raised will go directly to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Please mark your calendars and save the date because our eventful week will culminate with a family movie night on Friday, May 6th! Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, and get comfy under the stars as we convert our turf into an outdoor movie theater. We will be showing the movie Flora and Ulysses, which coincides with this year's One School One Book challenge. There is no cost to attend. However, we will continue to accept donations for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and concessions will be available for purchase.

Best,
Rachel Miller, Principal
Did you know....

Starting in 6th grade, students can sign up for the Tides elective to earn their scuba open water diving certificate? As a partner with Ocean First out of Boulder, Aspen Ridge Owls have the opportunity to safely (and professionally) learn the logistics of scuba diving while studying aspects of the ocean. As a culminating activity, the class travels to Homestead Crater, Utah to officially earn their scuba certification. It is an amazing opportunity for our Owls (and our staff). We wish our group the best of luck as they head to Homestead Crater the first week of May! Dive Away and represent Aspen Ridge well!
Did Your Owl Lose It?
Well Found It!
Are you missing any jackets, water bottles or sweaters at your house? There is a HUGE probability that we found it! Check your closets and the back seats of your cars, then drop by to see if anything belongs to your Owl(s). We'll be donating all items at the end of the school year so start looking now.
Please help us to welcome our newest Owl:

Hello! My name is Kayla Reynolds, and I am thrilled to be a part of the Aspen Ridge family.
I am originally from San Diego, CA. I moved to Colorado in high school, where I met a friend who would later be a big part of my life. After high school, I moved back to San Diego and a year later met this same significant person. You may be wondering who that person is? He is now my husband, Tristan, and was stationed in San Diego in the Navy. At the end of his enlistment, we realized that Colorado was our true home and moved back in 2013.
Obtaining a degree was very important to me; you see I am a first-generation college graduate. I wanted to show my son that you can do anything you put your mind to! With hard work and dedication, you can do amazing things. I went on to earn my bachelor's degree in business with a concentration in management. I found through my years in administration, finance, and leadership that I had a passion for business management. I desire to create with others while providing support and guidance.
In my free time, I love spending time with my husband, our two boys, and our dog-child, Cardi. I love photography even though I’m no good, camping is a family favorite, and I love to travel, even if it’s a quick weekend road trip.
