Fall marks the beginning of the Hills Church Stewardship appeal – the season when we make our 2022 financial commitment to the church. Coming off our successful capital campaign, “Generation to Generation: “One in Spirit,” we know that ours is a generous community. We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to that campaign.

Stewardship, however, supports our annual operating budget and not capital improvements. It is necessary to pay salaries and fund our ministries, operate and maintain our building, and support our Christian service outreach. In other words, the Stewardship Appeal “keeps our lights on” – so we need everyone to make a pledge for 2022.

Church Council is delighted to announce our 2022 Stewardship Chairs, Julie and David Safaii. You will likely recognize their faces as long-standing members of our congregation. Julie (daughter of Karl & Debbie Karlson) grew up in the Hills Church, having been baptized and confirmed here. David and Julie's three young children - Britta (5), Kitson (3) & Porter (1) - were all baptized here as well. They have been delighted participants in various ministry activities, including last year’s virtual Christmas Pageant and the recent Pumpkin Patch announcements. In the coming weeks, you will hear more from the Safaiis about the role that the Hills Church plays in their lives, and why their commitment to the church is so important to their family.

It is often observed that Christianity is just one generation away from extinction; so, we rejoice in the Safaiis’ willingness to help lead our congregation into the next chapter of our lives together.
