WELCOME

GATHERING HYMN: All People That on Earth Do Dwell ELW 883

1  All people that on
    earth do dwell,
    sing to the Lord
    with cheerful voice;
    him serve with mirth,
    his praise forth tell;
    come ye before
    him and rejoice.

2  Know that the Lord
    is God indeed;
    without our aid
    he did us make.
    We are his folk,
    he doth us feed
    and for his sheep
    he doth us take.

3  Oh, enter then his
    gates with praise;
    approach with joy
    his courts unto;
    praise, laud, and
    bless his name always,
    for it is seemly so to do.

4  For why? The Lord our
    God is good:
    His mercy is forever sure;
    his truth at all
    times firmly stood,
    and shall from
    age to age endure.

5  To Father, Son,
    and Holy Ghost,
    the God whom heav'n
    and earth adore,
    from us and from the angel host
    be praise and glory evermore.

THE LESSONS

2 Corinthians 5:6-10 [11-13] 14-17
6So we are always confident; even though we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord—7for we walk by faith, not by sight. 8Yes, we do have confidence, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. 10For all of us must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may receive recompense for what has been done in the body, whether good or evil. [11Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we try to persuade others; but we ourselves are well known to God, and I hope that we are also well known to your consciences. 12We are not commending ourselves to you again, but giving you an opportunity to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast in outward appearance and not in the heart. 13For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. ] 14For the love of Christ urges us on, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died. 15And he died for all, so that those who live might live no longer for themselves, but for him who died and was raised for them. 16From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view; even though we once knew Christ from a human point of view, we know him no longer in that way. 17So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!

Psalm 92:1-4, 12-15
1It is a good thing to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praise to your name, O Most High; 2to herald your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night; 3on the psaltery, and | on the lyre, and to the melody of the harp. 4For you have made me glad by your acts, O Lord; and I shout for joy because of the works of your hands. 12The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, and shall spread abroad like a cedar of Lebanon. 13Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God; 14they shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be green and succulent; 15that they may show how upright the Lord is, my rock, in whom there is no injustice.

Mark 4:26-34
26[Jesus] said, “The kingdom of God is as if someone would scatter seed on the ground,27and would sleep and rise night and day, and the seed would sprout and grow, he does not know how. 28The earth produces of itself, first the stalk, then the head, then the full grain in the head. 29But when the grain is ripe, at once he goes in with his sickle, because the harvest has come.” 30He also said, “With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable will we use for it? 31It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth; 32yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.” 33With many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it; 34he did not speak to them except in parables, but he explained everything in private to his disciples.

HYMN OF THE DAY: Beautiful Savior ELW 838

1  Beautiful Savior,
    King of creation,
    Son of God and Son of Man!
    Truly I'd love thee,
    truly I'd serve thee,
    light of my soul,
    my joy, my crown.

2  Fair are the meadows,
    fair are the woodlands,
    robed in flow'rs of
    blooming spring;
    Jesus is fairer,
    Jesus is purer,
    he makes our
    sorrowing spirit sing.

3  Fair is the sunshine,
    fair is the moonlight,
    bright the sparkling
    stars on high;
    Jesus shines brighter,
    Jesus shines purer
    than all the angels in the sky.

4  Beautiful Savior,
    Lord of the nations,
    Son of God and Son of Man!
    Glory and honor,
    praise, adoration,
    now and forevermore be thine!

THE APOSTLE’S CREED
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

SENDING HYMN: How Great Thou Art ELW 856

1  O Lord my God,
    when I in awesome wonder
    consider all the works
    thy hand hath made,
    I see the stars,
    I hear the mighty thunder,
    thy pow'r throughout
    the universe displayed;

Refrain
    Then sings my soul,
    my Savior God, to thee,
    how great thou art!
    How great thou art!
    Then sings my soul,
    my Savior God, to thee,
    how great thou art!
    How great thou art!

2  When through the woods
    and forest glades I wander,
    I hear the birds sing
    sweetly in the trees;
    when I look down from
    lofty mountain grandeur
    and hear the brook and
    feel the gentle breeze. Refrain

3  But when I think that God,
    his Son not sparing,
    sent him to die,
    I scarce can take it in,
    that on the cross my
    burden gladly bearing
    he bled and died to take
    away my sin. Refrain

4  When Christ shall come,
    with shout of acclamation,
    and take me home,
    what joy shall fill my heart!
    Then I shall bow in
    humble adoration
    and there proclaim,
    “My God, how great thou art!”
    Refrain

SENDING: Go in peace. Serve the Lord! Thanks be to God!

RCGR Annual
Fourth of July
Food Drive
The Religious Communities of Glen Rock are hosting their annual fourth of July food drive. The RCGR collects food and monetary donations during the July 4th parade in Glen Rock. As the parade falls on a Sunday this year, the RCGR are asking local houses of worship to collect food donations from June 27 through July 4. These donations will be donated to the Social Services Association of Ridgewood to help offset food insecurity for local families in need.

If you would like to participate, please drop of non-perishable food items during church office hours, Monday through Friday from 9AM-3PM, now until July 2.
Good Shepherd
Book Group
The chosen book for the next Good Shepherd Book Group virtual meeting is When God Winks: How the Power of Coincidence Guides Your Life by Squire D. Rushnell.

"It is not by accident that you just picked up When God Winks. Whether you call it synchronicity or coincidence, what brought you to this book today is worth remembering. In fact, you may have suspected all along that there is more to coincidence than meets the eye. These seemingly random events are actually signposts that can help you successfully navigate your career, relationships, and interests. Squire Rushnell shows us that by recognizing our "God Winks," we can use the untapped power of coincidence to vastly improve our lives. The author applies his compelling theory as to why coincidences exist to fascinating stories in history, sports, medicine, and relationships involving both everyday and famous people including Barbra Streisand, Charles Schulz, Oprah Winfrey, Kevin Costner, Mark Twain, and Presidents John Adams and Thomas Jefferson."

A book group discussion will be held in September. Location and time TBD.

A Note from the
Music Loft
I am excited to announce that Eric Lampmann, flutist, will be returning to play for service on June 20. Be sure to attend our wonderful Father’s Day service to hear him! Works by Telemann, Fauré and Vivaldi.

In July, organist Davis Badaszewski will be returning and filling in for me in my absence. Davis is a wonderful young organist, and is home for the summer on his way to grad school at the Cleveland Institute of Music where he will be studying organ with Todd Wilson. I have had the great pleasure of taking a masterclass with Mr. Wilson at one of the AGO conferences I’ve attended, as well as hearing him in concert. I’ve known Davis since he was 16 (“going on 30”!). What an amazing talent!

Lisa Steinberg, violinist will be returning in August (date TBD) and playing Antonio Vivaldi’s “E’state” (“Summer”). Keep your eye out for date (coming soon).
Many special musical treats await you in the coming weeks and I look forward to continue seeing more and more of you in attendance!

The Digital Organ Recital premiered on May 2, 2021. If you missed it, click HERE to watch the virtual recital comprised of preludes from digital services during the COVID pandemic.

We are especially looking for cereal, beans, rice (small bags), diapers and wipes.
