The School Supply Drive is underway!

This annual effort organized by Women at Fourth gathers school supplies for children taking part in the Chicago Lights Urban Farm, Summer Day, and Tutoring programs.

For lists of items needed, please contact Simon Crow.

The school year may have ended, but that didn’t mean the end of Day School fun!

At a one-week summer camp the Day School hosted thirteen children from their Twos and Preschool Programs.

While “camping” in their classroom, children and teachers incorporated tents, campfires, lanterns, and imaginations into their explorations. They examined bugs, made s’mores, and learned new songs perfect for summer sojourns.

Of course, no camping trip is complete without splashing in a lake, river, or creek, so the campers created their own waterways on the Day School playground.

This summer camp provided parents with a nice transition from the closing school year, while offering students great opportunities to try new routines, make new friends, and, for returning Twos, informally transition to their fall classroom.

If your child or someone you know would be interested in being part of the Day School fun when the new school year begins, Kathy Hager would be glad to talk to you about program and enrollment details.

The Center for Life and Learning (CLL) Summer Session kicks off this Monday, July 10!

Register today for seven weeks of fantastic fitness classes for only $75.

Special Topic classes such as Improv, Drawing Landscapes, and Brainercise will be offered as well and are open to all at a nominal fee. Check the website for details.

Our Music by the Fountain concert series kicked off this week with a performance by jazz pianist Elsie Carlisle.

This coming Friday, July 14 solo guitarist Andy Brown will be our featured musician.

We hope you will plan to join us in the Michigan Avenue courtyard on July and August Fridays as we enjoy music outdoors over the noon hour!

A full concert listing is available online.
