ICYMI: Bechtel establishes office in Chandler
Bechtel recently announced that it will establish a new office in Chandler, Arizona. The office will serve as an important location for Bechtel’s Manufacturing & Technology global business unit, which serves customers in the semiconductor, batteries, and battery materials markets.

Bechtel marked the opening of the office at an event on June 27, 2023, with business partners and government officials.

The 8,000 square foot office is located at 3133 W. Frye Road on Price Corridor and includes space for employees in disciplines such as engineering, procurement, project controls, and construction management.

“The thriving business and high-tech landscape in the Metro Phoenix area allows Bechtel to attract top talent as we design and build projects for our customers,” said Catherine Hunt Ryan, president of Bechtel’s Manufacturing & Technology global business unit. “By focusing our technical expertise in Chandler, Bechtel will deepen our collaboration and dedication with partners engaged in new capital projects in the semiconductor, batteries, and battery materials markets.”

“Chandler has built a reputation over several decades as a manufacturing and technology hub, and we are thrilled to welcome Bechtel to our city,” said Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke. “Bechtel is one of the largest construction and engineering companies in the United States. This beautiful new office will support the exciting economic development growth happening throughout our community and the region.”

ICYMI: Ribbon cutting held for new Bashas' Support Center
On June 14, a ribbon cutting event was held for a new Bashas' Support Center at 2650 W. Geronimo Place in the Price Corridor. The more than 59,000-square-foot office will serve Bashas', Food City, AJ's Fine Foods, Eddie's Country Store, and Bashas' Dine grocery stores across Arizona and New Mexico.

Founded in 1932, the Bashas' Family of Stores is now a division of The Raley's Companies, which acquired Bashas' in 2021. Establishing the new Support Center is one example of the increased resources and investment made possible by Raley's.

During the spring, approximately 280 employees were transitioned over to the new office from another facility in Chandler. "We are committed to preserving and enhancing the Bashas' brands, and this includes our investment in an office that fosters innovation and collaboration. This modern workspace will provide new amenities and create an environment to inspire existing and future team members," said Keith Knopf, President & CEO of The Raley's Companies.

"It goes without saying that Chandler has built a very close relationship with Bashas' over the decades, and it was a top priority for us to keep these quality office jobs in our community," stated Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke. "We appreciate The Raley's Companies proactive outreach to City leadership early on in the real estate process and we want to congratulate the team on its beautiful new office in the heart of Price Corridor."
CUSD students triumph at Arizona Science & Engineering Fair
The Arizona Science and Engineering Fair (AzSEF) is the state science fair for Arizona. Each spring, Arizona students submit projects in different science categories and compete against their peers in elementary, junior, and senior divisions.

Chandler Unified School District (CUSD) students dominated the 2023 Arizona Science and Engineering Fair. Despite representing only 3% of Arizona's student population, CUSD students triumphed by claiming more than one-third (34%) of the state's award-winning projects at AzSEF.

STEM education is an integral part of daily lesson plans, activities, and after school programs at CUSD schools. CUSD and the City have long recognized the importance of STEM education in developing future innovators, creating career pathways, and building a talent pipeline to support continued economic growth.
