Message from the Interim Executive Director
|
|
Dear Colleagues,
I am so inspired by your amazing tenacity and creativity. For many of us, this past year has been the toughest year ever as families, friends, neighbors, and colleagues cope with unprecedented loss and trauma. At the same time, our organizations have also had to pivot dramatically, taking on new or additional duties (Monterey County Weekly Report July 2020), and/or moving programs outside or online (e.g., Palenke Arts, Youth Arts Collective, and Monterey Jazz Festival).

As vaccines roll out and we (finally) begin to pursue recovery, renewal, and reset, we can also take inspiration from Amanda Gorman in her extraordinary poem: “The Hill We Climb”, which she shared so powerfully during the Presidential Inauguration (excerpted below)
“If we’re to live up to our own time, then victory won’t lie in the blade,
but in all of the bridges, we’ve made.”
In this spirit, we invite you to join us on Friday to reconnect and recharge. Please read on for details on the mixer and more great opportunities to connect, collaborate and succeed!

Mark your calendar for
March 5 from 4 to 5 P.M.
Meet up with your friends and colleagues for the very first NAMC Mixer Event of 2021! Register Here.
Our first mixer for 2021 will give your spirits the boost we all need right now! We open with a stunning performance by Palenke Arts Chorus and Special Guests including Symphonie Constant, Paul Contos, and many more. Then, we greet each other with quick chats, followed by networking in groups with our theme (What I Will Carry/ What I Will Not!) followed by a dynamic conversation with Supervisor Askew. The Supervisor will provide her insights on what’s next and tips for working with the county plus she’ll take your most urgent questions. On her website, she writes “I am committed to doing what it takes, for as long as it takes, to create a more just and equitable community for every resident…” Chat is always open -- from 3:45 to 5:15!!
