The Pantone Color Institute has forecasted 10 colors as the dominant trends for Spring/Summer 2021. I will discuss five of them in this newsletter and the remaining 5 in next month's newsletter.
According to Pantone Color Institute experts, colors for Spring/Summer 2021 emphasize our desire for a range of color that inspires ingenuity and inventiveness – colors whose versatility transcend the seasons and allow for more freedom of choice - colors that lend themselves to original color statements and whose flexibility easily adapts to our new and more fragmented lifestyle.
“Offering a range of shades illustrative of nature, colors for Spring/Summer 2021 underscores our desire for flexible color that works year-round. Infused with a genuine authenticity that continues to be increasingly important, colors for Spring/Summer 2021 combine a level of comfort and relaxation with sparks of energy that encourage and uplift our moods” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.
As you can see, these forecasted colors are all light, bright and cheery. Let's talk about how to use these colors based on the palette of colors that works best for you.
These colors are right out of the Spring palette so for all my Springs out there, go for it! 2021 will be a good year for you to "shop till you drop" and extend your wardrobe.
Wear any of these shades from head to toe and marvel at how fresh and youthful you look - and feel.
Golden, red-haired Springs will look especially vibrant in the Marigold. Pair it with camel or khaki.
Light and fair, Springs with blond hair will sparkle in the green ash. Try mixing it with light navy - a fabulous combination.
Summers will do well in all shades except the Marigold which has too much of a golden undertone for your cooler skin tone. The Cerulean will be especially good on ashy blond Summers as they sparkle in all shades of blue. Pair it with stone or taupe.
Soft and gentle Summers with light brown hair will love the Burnt Coral.
If you are a deep Winter or Autumn with dark hair and dark eyes, these colors will be too light and bright to wear head to toe. You will do best to limit these shades to a blouse or camisole, or use them in a print balanced with black, chocolate, charcoal or navy.
These colors certainly inspire hope and give us a reason to go shopping again! I can't wait!
