The End of the National Public Health Emergency...What's Next?

The National Emergency and Public Health Emergency declarations ended as of May 11, 2023. CDC is updating guidance recommendations to align with the next phase of the COVID pandemic. Included are the Interim Clinical Considerations for Use of COVID-19 Vaccines which provides a summary of mRNA vaccination schedule revisions. Also updated are the Interim Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations for Healthcare Personnel. This resource provides updated recommendations for universal source control, admission testing, PPE use and more.


For Nursing Homes: The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has made changes to two Quality, Safety and Oversight (QSO) memorandums issued at the beginning of the Covid-19 Public Health Emergency. QSO-20-38-NH Testing, related to staff testing, has expired, while changes have been made to QSO-20-39-NH Visitation, related to nursing home visitor policies.

Local Interactive Network of Knowledge Sharers


Do you provide education or support to consumers and/or patients in your community with the goal of enhancing health? If so, consider joining the IPRO QIN-QIO Local Interactive Network of Knowledge Sharers (LINKS).


Individually, you can impact the health of your communities. But working together we can grow that impact exponentially. Each quarter the IPRO QIN-QIO LINKS convene to explore topics of mutual interest, share promising practices, and problem-solve. Together we’ve developed a library of LINKS Portfolios for health content that can be adapted and delivered to consumers/patients. We also keep the conversation going between meetings via the IPRO QIN-QIO LINKS Facebook Group.Join us and encourage others in your community to participate so we can learn and improve together.
