Speaking of Pears:

"I love Asian pears. These are beautiful on the outside, nice and crisp. "

Fresh Serving Suggestions
There are few things we enjoy more than fresh Asian Pears. A few slices topping a salad or added to a plate of other seasonal fruits can take ordinary dishes to a whole new level. This Blue Cheese and Walnut Spread from Prevention magazine is a savory contrast to enhance the luscious natural sweetness of fresh Asian Pears:

Combine ¼ cup each of crumbled blue cheese and low-fat ricotta. Stir in 2 Tbsp. finely chopped toasted walnuts. Spread on sliced fresh Asian Pears and enjoy!

Hot Summer Weather
As with many parts of the country, it has been a hot summer at our southeast Pennsylvania orchards. People often ask about the impact this weather trend has on the fruit we've just started harvesting.

Asian Pear trees and fruit are remarkably heat tolerant, able to withstand temperatures into the 90s and higher. Dry weather causes the root system of well-established trees to tap deep into the soil seeking moisture. In addition to water, that deep soil is rich in minerals and nutrients, resulting in fruit that is VERY sweet with intense layers of flavor in every delicious bite.
Our orchard team also works tirelessly year round and, together with the natural vigor of the Asian Pear trees, help produce beautiful, healthy fruit each Fall, regardless of what Mother Nature brings!
