Your ASA President Says...
|
|
Hello All,
As we close out the “Truly Memorable Year”, I would like to thank all of you for the continued support of our association. Without you, we would not be here.
I would like to also show my gratitude to our staff, Nancy Grimes and April Ball; they have really gone the extra mile this year to keep the events going, stay on top of the issues and keep all of us in line. Also all the Committee Members for the hard work and efforts to help make the events happen.
I am sure I speak for the entire board when I say, Thank you all!!
Looking forward to the New Year, as all, I look forward to the world returning to normal and getting back to business as usual. We have many exciting events planned for 2021, and it will be good to be able to see each other without masks on.
To all…. May the new year be blessed, the families healthy and safe, and enjoy your time with each other, and pass on the Holiday spirit whenever you can, A smile and a kind word goes far these days.
Cheers,
John Luft

Wrap-Ups - A Closer Look at Program Design
Courtesy of TSIB
|
|
A Controlled Insurance Program (CIP, also known as a Wrap-Up) is a smart risk management tool for any construction project. However, before the first shovel hits the dirt, you have a big decision to make—who will be the Sponsor for your project?
The Sponsor is responsible for the Wrap-Up’s key elements, like Program Design, Financial Risk, Administration, and Claims Management. With an OCIP, the Owner is the Sponsor for the project. With a CCIP, the General Contractor is the Sponsor for the Project.

Noise in the Workplace
Courtesy of A-Tech Consulting, Inc.
|
|
Regulating noise in the workplace is crucial for the physical and mental health of employees. According to data analyzed by the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, approximately 22 million U.S. workers are exposed to excessive noise levels. For the employee, this can result in permanent health effects, such as damaged hearing. In addition, the employer may face charges from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) if noise levels are not in compliance with the current regulation (CCR, Title 8, Section 5097). A Hearing Conservation Program seeks to prevent excessive noise levels in the workplace in order to protect employees.
