Guide is online only.

The Fall Program Guide is available now at www.chesterfield.gov/programguide. The guide features activities and events from Sept. – Dec. 2020. This issue will be available online only. Copies will not be mailed or available at county locations.
The Fall Program Guide is full of activities and events for all ages and abilities: nature, dance, history, sports, fitness, outdoor adventure, therapeutic recreation, activities for older adults, and much more.
Registration for classes is available online with REGi. You may also register at any recreation center or the Parks and Recreation office in-person.

Do you want to be a
Master Gardener?
|
Chesterfield County’s Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) office is taking applications for the next Master Gardener class. A Master Gardener acts on behalf of VCE as a volunteer educator within his or her community after receiving specialized training in environmental horticulture through cooperative programming with VCE. Due to COVID-19, the 2021 training class will be conducted virtually, in partnership with other VCE units in the greater Richmond area. Training is comprised of 50 hours of classroom instruction and 50 hours of volunteer time in approved programs. There is a one-time fee for VCE-MG training of $200, due at the time of acceptance into the class.
The deadline for applying for the Master Gardener program is October 30.

New Parks and Recreation Director
|
Chesterfield County has named Robert W. Smet as the new Parks and Recreation Director effective Oct. 1. Smet has over 25 years of parks and recreation, construction, horticulture, project management, and environmental experience. As Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, management oversight of community recreation centers, 50+ active lifestyles, therapeutic recreation, outdoor adventure programming, historical sites and programs, marketing and social media functions, athletics, and special events all fell within his area of responsibility. He also served as the Department’s Chief of Finance for two years, and was head of the CAPRA accreditation/re-accreditation team, a group tasked with aligning operations with nationally recognized best practices.
