FREE HR / EMPLOYMENT LAW CLINIC
Jackie of Jackie Adams Consulting and Mags Trench of BarrCo Solicitors are running a series of free webinars aimed at business leaders and managers who are keen to navigate these issues effectively.
Getting the people management aspects right when restructuring/downsizing your business is daunting. This webinar will give you a step by step approach to help you carry out the process and keep on the right side of the law! It’s vital viewing for anyone who is currently in the process or considering it.

Why should you attend?
• Maybe you know you need to reduce costs within your business (and in many businesses staffing costs make up a high percentage of total costs), but don’t know where to start.
• You really don’t want to make redundancies, but don’t know what else you could do
• You currently have staff on furlough and need to think about what will happen when the scheme finishes

What the webinar will cover:
• Reorganisation – where to start!
• Options to avoid redundancy
• What a restructuring/redundancy process should include
• How to keep on the right side of the law
• Ensuring compassion and supporting health and wellbeing
• What are the implications if it goes wrong
• When to seek help
There will also be opportunities to ask questions

A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY...
QUARTERLY GRANTS INITIATIVE
Over the last year, we have supported a couple of initiatives to do our part to help our members and local community. We made a donation to The Leatherhead Theatre as part of their Crowdfunding campaign and have recently made a donation to assist the printing of school documents for those families without access to home printers.

By way of making this a little more frequent, our board have decided to make donations on a quarterly basis and invite our members to put in a request if they have a project they need assistance with. More details will follow after our next board meeting on 1st March.
FANTASTIC FUNDRAISING INITIATIVE
After pacing the streets of Guildford for the past year for her daily exercise, Chamber member Eloise Appleby from The Grange at Bookham is about to 'go large' with a 95 mile walk along The West Highland Way in early May. She will be swapping the biting winds of Surrey for the biting midges of Scotland, and is relishing the prospect of a change of scene - as well as a taste of haggis or a nip of whisky along the way.
Many charities were unable to carry out their usual fundraising activities in 2020, and Eloise is on a mission to raise as much as she can for The Grange, making improvements and creating new opportunities for the adults with learning disabilities it supports.
New outdoor facilities are the priority, after a year when the value of time spent outside has become all too apparent. She was inspired to head for the Highlands by a group from The Grange who went on a strenuous walking holiday in Scotland in 2019. She is hoping they will train with her, and give her some tips for avoiding blisters.
If you would like to help Eloise to help this local and much-loved charity, please head to her fundraising page HERE. If you would rather offer support in kind - new walking boots, midge spray, Kendal Mint Cake etc please contact Eloise direct HERE.
