From the Interim Executive Director:
Happy New Year!
I’m so sorry for the losses you have experienced during 2020 and the tremendous stresses of recent weeks. While better days are ahead, we appreciate that it’s still going to take great courage and tremendous effort to regroup and recover. Fortunately, we are not alone. Along with everyone in your organization, NAMC members, partners and allies have all exhibited tremendous creativity, tenacity, and generosity in the face of it all.
We are especially grateful to everyone who participated in and supported our virtual programs throughout 2020: The EpiCenter Special Presentation, The Monterey County Nonprofit Socio-Economic Impact Report, The 2020 Nonprofit Awards Celebration and Increase Your Impact / Experts Share Insight 2021 Panel. Each of these programs earned rave reviews and are still available for you to see and share, thanks to everyone who participated – including our guests and our producing partner House of 8 Media! Just visit alliancemonterey.org anytime.

Today, more than ever, we must connect and collaborate to succeed. Please send me a quick note with what you need and how you would like to get more involved: paulettelynch12@gmail.com. And please read on to find more events and resources designed to help you move your mission forward.

NAMC Mixer 2021!
Mark your calendar for March 5 at 4 P.M.
Special Guest: Supervisor Askew
Our first mixer for 2021 will be virtual and feature our newest Monterey County Supervisor Wendy Root Askew (District 4).  Supervisor Askew is also serving as Board Chair. She will provide us with insights on county priorities and tips for those eager to partner with the county to move our missions forward. On her website, she writes “I am committed to doing what it takes, for as long as it takes, to create a more just and equitable community for every resident… As Monterey County Supervisor, I will stay laser-focused on keeping our communities safe and healthy, getting kids back to school and residents back to work, and addressing our housing needs now and for future generations.”

PPP 2.0 Has Launched
The Economic Aid to Hard-Hit Small Businesses, Nonprofits, and Venues Act (Economic Aid Act), passed in late December, includes more than $284 billion for another round of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans. The PPP 2.0 loan application process opened on January 11 and runs through March 31, 2021.

Similar to the PPP in 2020, PPP 2.0 will require you to work through a lending partner (bank or financial institution) approved by the Small Business Administration, and loans are forgivable if borrowers meet the requirements. There are new provisions and requirements in PPP 2.0.
