City Beautifies Intersection with GDOT Grant Funding
Thanks to a grant from the Georgia Department of Transportation's Roadside Enhancement and Beautification Council (REBC), the intersection of Canton Hwy. (State Route 20) and Kelly Mill Road is looking beautiful!

The City of Cumming was awarded a $50,000 grant for this project, which had a total cost of just over $52,815. Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. designed the layout of the project in partnership with Tri Scapes, Inc., which handled all the landscaping and planting.

GDOT's REBC program provides grants from fees paid by outdoor advertising companies to GDOT for vegetation removal at outdoor advertising signs. The funds may be used only for landscape plant material and its installation in beautification and enhancement projects along state routes in Georgia.

Thank you to Georgia Department of Transportation, Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. and Tri Scapes, Inc. for your partnerships with the City on this project!

CPD Autism Awareness Month Successful
The Cumming Police Department raised $7,900 during its Autism Awareness Month events, with all proceeds going to Creative Enterprises-Forsyth and LEAPS Therapy Clinic!

The PD designed unique "Autism Awareness" badges which they gave out in the community in exchange for donations to the two charitable organizations. Additionally, they partnered with Marie's Italian Deli, Bakery & Market for "Lunch for a Cause" in April, in which officers and Mayor Troy Brumbalow tossed pizzas, served customers, and washed dishes, with a portion of sales from the day and all tips made by the officers and mayor going to the cause. In early May, the PD also presented Family Fun Day at the Cumming Fairgrounds, where families came out to enjoy games, inflatables, music, and the chance to dunk PD officers and City elected officials.

The Cumming Police Department thanks everyone in the community who supported their Autism Awareness efforts and made the fundraising push so successful!
