DECEMBER PARENT NEWS
Greetings Northwestern Parents,

Merry Christmas! I love this time of year when there's joyous music everywhere, and students have an extra bounce in their step as I greet them on the sidewalk. Finals are over, and many are headed home for the holidays. The JOY of the Lord fills their hearts.

I pray that this Christmas you will feel the JOY that Jesus brings -- even in times of trial and suffering. Last week, my parents and sister lost their homes due to fire (they live in a duplex). Although they lost most of their earthly belongings, they are filled with the HOPE and JOY that only Jesus gives.

There are those all around us who have seen unimaginable heartbreak in suffering and loss this year. My prayer is that the Lord replenishes their hurting hearts with JOY and PEACE that surpasses understanding.

In this new year, may you be filled with the LOVE, JOY, and PEACE that only Jesus can bring.
In His Service,

Angel

CAMPUS NEWS AND OPPORTUNITIES
Today, December 17 at 4 p.m. we celebrate our UNW graduates and all they have accomplished, as they walk across the stage in Knight Performance Hall. We will honor the Fall 2021 graduates as well as Summer 2021 School of Nursing graduates, and Summer 2021 Adult Undergraduate, Graduate Studies, and Dual Enrollment graduates.

If you would like to join us online in recognizing these students, commencement will be livestreamed as well. HERE is the link.

Parents of graduates: Thank you for all the support you give to your students on their journey. May God bless them as they go out into the world to make Kingdom impact. May God bless you as you walk with your students, and may God continue to bless Northwestern as we strive to serve Him in all that we do.

“And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you.
He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you;
do not fear nor be dismayed.”
DEUTERONOMY 31:8 (NKJV)
Twenty years, for which we are grateful.

Dr. Alan Cureton, president of the University of Northwestern-St. Paul (UNW) and Northwestern Media, announced earlier this month his intention to step down as the organization’s chief executive. He will serve in his current capacity until the board of trustees appoints a successor, likely in the summer of 2022.

With what will amount to more than 20 years at the organization’s helm,
Dr. Cureton’s tenure is more than three times longer than that of today’s average private college president.

“The last twenty years serving at Northwestern has been the highlight of my professional life. From our very first day on campus in 2002, both Gayle and I have treasured our time as a part of this incredible community, with its incredible mission—one that is changing this world for the Kingdom. We are grateful for what He is doing at Northwestern, and for us to have been a small part of that work.” ~Dr. Alan Cureton

Parent Blog: Rejoice Greatly!
During Advent season, we recall the Israelites’ hope for the Messiah in the midst of deep suffering. Zechariah’s prophecy made it clear that REJOICING GREATLY was central to anticipating fulfillment of that promise. In the midst of current national tragedies and the traumas each of our families face as part of a continuing pandemic, can we be realistic about the challenges with our adult children and still intentionally invite JOY into Christmas?
