Greetings!

We Need Your Help…A Real Quick Survey!

The Southern Utah Bicycle Alliance is working to see that the planned Canal Trail is built in Washington City (click heree to see a tentative map of the proposed new trail). The paved path would be approximately 7 miles long when completed. This multi-use trail will connect people from the southern part of Washington Fields to Sullivan Park and into the extensive trail system that can take cyclists across multiple cities.

Please take 10 seconds to complete this survey. Results are anonymous and will be used to show what type of support the community has for this trail. Thank you!

Trail Maintenance Alert!

Over the next several months work will be on-going on the River Road Bridge (as it crosses over the Virgin River near 1450 S) and upstream of River Road Bridge that will have some impacts on city paved trails.

Crews are currently removing a large sandbar and haul trucks are crossing the Virgin River North Trail, east of the River Road bridge over the Virgin River. The trail will not be closed, and there is a Stop in all directions. The Stop sign on the trail also has advance warning. The trail will be cleaned nightly at the crossing, and once the work is complete, the trail will be repaved. This work will be ongoing until next April.

Work has already begun on widening of River Road Bridge. Because work will be occurring above the trail, there will be times when the trail will be closed for safety. The construction contract allows the trail to be closed during night time hours only, well after dusk, and re-opened prior to early morning. The city is requiring the contractor to post the closure dates and times along the trail several days ahead of the closure dates.
Thought Provoking Article on the Future of Cycling Receives National Coverage
SUBA and cycling both got some national coverage in a great article published in “Parks and Rec Business” and also excerpted in “St. George News”. Check out this thoughtful article…”Nostalgia For The Future”…by local writer Della Lowe.
