PROS Master Plan Update
On Wednesday, January 6, Grand Junction City Council officially adopted the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Master Plan with a unanimous 7-0 vote. The PROS Master Plan will help guide decisions for the Parks & Recreation Department over the next eight to ten years.
Please note the start of programming will depend on Mesa County Health Department's risk level at the time of the activity start date.
Check out the 2021 Winter Activity Guide and choose from a variety of programs to participate in the new year. In this addition, you can also find new amenities like the new Kindred Reserve Open Space Park and Single Track Trail System!

With Mesa County Level Orange: High Risk, some facilities and services are still temporarily closed which are reflected in the guide. Residents can still plan for recreational activities and once safe to open facilities, parks & recreation will be ready to start programs as soon as possible.
45 Years of Service
Ron Felt has served the Grand Junction community through the Parks & Recreation department for 45 years! This month, Ron is retiring after overseeing countless projects and events as a Parks Maintenance Supervisor. Ron made sure our parks, shelters, the Las Colonias Business Park, and Dos Rios development were maintained to the highest of standards. We appreciate Ron's dedication not only to parks & recreation, but to the community as well. Thank you, Ron!
New! Single Track Trail
There are two new sections of Riverfront single track trail! One is near the Amphitheatre at Las Colonias running to Dos Rios called "Muddy Waters", and another from slightly west of the C340 bridge behind the recycling plant up to the Glacier Ice Arena called "Hustle and Flow". Hop on the paved Riverfront Trail and enjoy these single track trails along your ride! Head down to the Riverfront Trail to check them out!
New! Kindred Reserve Open Space Park
The community can now enjoy the first ever Open Space Park in Grand Junction! Kindred Reserve has 2 miles of trail and is near the Tiara Rado driving range. This development was made possible from special funding through the CARES Act. Enjoy a stroll through this more natural park with vegetation encompassing the surrounding landscape.
Thanks for Participating!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2020 Virtual Santa Cause Run. Participants chose unique ways to complete the race including paddle boarding, hiking, running on treadmills, and picking a route around town. Event proceeds will go towards inclusive playground equipment.
Touch Free Drinking Fountains
18 parks were recently upgraded with touch free drinking fountains and water bottle fillers. These drinking fountains will reduce the spread of germs by having the ability to drink and fill water bottles without touching the fountain. Check them out at Canyon View Park, Lincoln Park, Las Colonias, Sherwood Park, and Riverside Park!
