COVID- 19 Information
Ashland Vaccine Clinic
September 14, 2021, from 1 pm- 4 pm.
MassBay Ashland Campus 270 Eliot St.

This free clinic is open to all, including community members without insurance, aged 12-years-old and older.

Participants can receive their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine from the last clinic held on August 24th or choose to receive the Pfizer or Johnson and Johnson vaccine when registering for an appointment. We are NOT offering Boosters at this time.

The following information as of 9/2/2021:

Ashland has a total of 1,648 confirmed cases of this, 1,631 have been cleared.

Ashland has  a total of 225 Probable cases of this 222 have cleared
According to DPH as of July 27th 2021 they feel that the DELTA Variant is the most prevalent at this time in Massachusetts at around 55% and to note it is twice as contagious as the original virus.

Please remind people if anyone is sick in their homes regardless of vaccine status and/or test status they and everyone in their household should remain home.

We also need to encourage testing for anyone who feels they were exposed or has any symptoms at all. 

Please also note if you are vaccinated you are protected at a minimum of 90% so you still have a small chance of getting Covid-19 if exposed to a positive person.

Reminder- All Municipal Offices are CLOSED
Monday, September 6th for Labor Day.

Town Hall, Ashland Community Center, and Ashland Public Library will be closed on Monday to observe Labor Day.

Ashland Public Library will also be closed TODAY, Saturday, September 4th.
TODAY is Waste Collection Day!
9 am - Noon at DPW on 20 Ponderosa Rd.

The following items are collected:
-Used motor-oil
-Oil-base paints/stains
-Fluorescent light bulbs (including CFLs)
-Rechargeable and button batteries and contained Mercury (including old thermometers and thermostats)

The collection takes place outside, behind the red salt barn....not inside the DPW building/garage.
Mosquito-borne Disease Prevention Tips
REMOVE STANDING WATER

Standing Water can contribute to multiple nuisance conditions including mosquitoes & rodents.

Mosquitoes lay eggs in standing water.
-Limit the number of places around your home for mosquitoes to breed by draining or discarding items holding water
-Check rain gutters & drains
-Empty & flip over unused flowerpots and wading pools.
-Change your bird bath's water frequently.

Starting Tuesday, Sept 7th, the Ashland Public Library is thrilled to be getting back to "normal" hours! 

Monday-Thursday: 10am - 8pm

Friday: 10am - 5pm

Saturday: 9am - 4pm

And, just in time for our new hours, September is Library Card Sign Up Month! If you don't have an APL library card yet, come down and get one - they may even give you a sneak peek of the new card design. All you need is some form of ID with your Ashland address on it. A library card is your passport to adventure!

The GreenUp Ashland Team has noticed a lot of litter during their clean-up walks on the streets lately. Please pick up after yourself, and do your part to help keep our community clean.

IMPORTANT CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION

Pond Street, Route 126 Construction

Eversource crews will continue work for an additional 2 weeks. Northern Construction will be working on the drainage improvements up until the 13th. This work near the Eliot Street intersection should be completed in the next two weeks. Crews will start drainage work from Algonquin to Nickerson Road on Pond Street after that. Please note that crews will be working to improve the temporary plates and paving to make for a smoother ride.  

Downtown Construction

The week of 9/6 crews will be working on Main Street from Pleasant Street towards the train tracks. There will be isolated work on Front Street as well for the next two weeks. They do not plan to have traffic impacted by this work. 

Crews will be working in front of the Fire Department Tuesday and installing conduit Tuesday which will impact traffic to one lane only on Main Street. Please use caution and give yourself extra time to get through a small portion of Main Street. 

The week of 9/13 crews will be placing manholes on Main Street past the train tracks towards Homer Ave. Stay tuned for more information regarding the timing of this work.

Help create an Ashland Wish Tree!
Friday, September 10th from 5:30- 7:30 PM

Join DAET and the Ashland Senior Center to create the Ashland Wish Tree! With imagination and tinkering, we will create a great oak-like tree from scratch. Branches by branches, leave by leaves, we will "grow" it. Our desires and wishes will be reflected in the craft. It symbolizes togetherness and serves as a reminder you are never alone or isolated, but rather that you are connected to the world.

All ages are encouraged to attend- Friends, Families, Kids, Parents, Grandparents, Neighbors! Space is limited to 30 people. Register by September 9th by sending an email to Kristin or Ana!
Artist Reception
September 11th from 3 - 5 pm
at Dulce D Leche (Ashland)

Meet the local Ashland Artists who have artwork on display at Dulce D Leche. Taste some extraordinary treats including chocolates, gelato, and artisan baked goods!

There will be a cash bar, and live music featuring Sean Fullerton!

Featured artists include:
Barney Levitt, Tobi Hoffman, Dyrick Schaefer, Cliff Wilson, Adrienne Ghilani, and Gregory Fawkes.

To attend this event, there is a $20 suggestion donation. Portions of these funds will go to the National Institute of Mental Health.

The play is about family interactions and the interpersonal relationships we all have or want to have with our families. While every family dynamic is different each one of us plays a role within that dynamic.
