WEEKLY UPDATE FROM SUPERINTENDENT JERRY ALMENDAREZ: JAN. 4, 2021
Superintendent Jerry Almendarez has issued a new weekly update for the Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) community, covering Learning Labs, a new Federal Stimulus Bill, and local COVID-19 rates. Click here to read it.
SAUSD RESUMES FREE MEAL SERVICE FOR CHILDREN AGES 1-18
The District’s free meal service resumed this week and will continue to provide free meals for children ages 1-18 through June 3, 2021. In addition, the District has also expanded service times so that meals may now be picked up in the morning, afternoon and evening. Click here to view the schedule.
HOW TO SUBMIT A STUDENT RECORDS REQUEST FOR DACA
Support Services has added information to its website for those interested in submitting a student records request for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) to SAUSD. Click here for directions. 
ENROLL NOW IN SAUSD SCHOOLS
Looking to enroll in SAUSD schools for the 2020-21 or 2021-22 school years? Click here to access important questionnaires, enrollment timelines, lottery guidelines and more. The 2021-22 enrollment window is open through Feb. 26, 2021.

APPLICATION PERIOD FOR ENROLLMENT LOTTERY TO OPEN MONDAY, JAN. 11
SAUSD will start accepting lottery applications for the 2021-2022 school year beginning Monday, Jan. 11, 2021 through Monday, Jan. 25, 2021. The lottery application will be a Google form. The Google form will open on Jan. 11, 2021 at 7:00 a.m. and will close promptly at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25, 2021. To apply for the lottery, please go to the respective school websites and click on the link to complete the Lottery Request Form. COVID-19 case levels in Santa Ana are on the rise. As a service to the community, the District has posted information about free COVID-19 testing opportunities being offered by the City of Santa Ana, Latino Health Access and other groups to the COVID-19 resource webpage. Click here to view them.

CENTURY TEACH ACADEMY STUDENT RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF TOP 50 BY VITAL LINK OC
Congratulations to Century High School and TEACH Academy Junior Student Valeria Silva! On Dec. 16, 2020, Vital Link OC recognized Silva as one of the top 50 leadership students in the County. Silva, along with several other Junior TEACH Academy students participated in a student leadership series program run by Vital Link OC. Students from across all Orange County and Los Angeles County schools participated in the program. Valeria was the only Santa Ana Unified School District student recognized in the top 50. ASSEMBLYMEMBER TOM DALY ART CONTEST WINNERS
Congratulations to Olivia de Nova, kindergarten student at Franklin Elementary School and Valeria Silva, 5th grade at Jackson Elementary School for being named the winners of an art contest sponsored by Assemblymember Tom Daly, 69th District. Each year the district of Assemblymember Daly holds an art contest for students in the community to highlight their artistic talents. This year, students were asked to illustrate something they look forward to doing after COVID. Each student was awarded an iPad and both will also be recognized on the website of Assemblymember Tom Daly and in his upcoming newsletter. Congratulations to both winners!
SANTA ANA PUBLIC SCHOOLS FOUNDATION ACCEPTING SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS
The Santa Ana Public Schools Foundation is now accepting applications for nine different scholarships that support post-secondary educational goals. Applications must be submitted prior to Feb. 14, 2021. For more information, click here.
