What's Happening this week: Program NRRWF
Message from President Sara Beacham
Greetings!

Late last Friday afternoon, I was driving down Esplanade heading south from Eaton Road, anxious to get home, when I saw something that made me turn my car around. Can you guess what it was that caught my attention? It was a billboard – on the corner of Esplanade and Shasta. I literally turned my car around, put it in park and jumped out for a selfie with the billboard. It’s a great location! Over the weekend I saw two more. I am not going to reveal the locations of the other two I found. I want you to go find them. There are a total of four billboards around town for our last month of the campaign. They bring me pure joy. Our billboards are being noticed all over Soroptimist.

We accomplished a lot at our business meeting last week. Thank you to those who attended and participated in the discussions. All our motions passed. We have a lot to look forward to over the coming months.

This week we have our second Dream It, Be It ad hoc meeting with SI Bidwell Rancho on Friday, December 10, 2021, at 12:00 noon. We are meeting at La Comida. This is a wonderful way to further our Dream programs. Let me know if you want to attend or get involved in other ways. The Dream It, Be It one-day conference will be held in the spring on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Chico Women’s Club.

I am arranging the first President’s Project ad hoc meeting this Saturday, December 11 at 8:30 am at The Grateful Bean. All those who are interested in helping plan an evening live event to connect women leaders and mentors in our community with the female 20-somethings in the community who need career or educational advice. This event will take place Friday evening, April 8, 2022, at the Chico Women’s Club. Both this event and the Dream It, Be It are designed to advance our Dream programs and help women and girls in our community. Let me know if you are interested in helping my vision come to life.

See you Wednesday,

President Sara

December Fur Baby and Member of the Month - Nikko & Bonnie Chapman

Nikko is our 15 year old Brittany Spaniel. She is a real beauty and has been a terrific family dog. She is named after Nikko, Japan a pretty northern town that our family visited just prior to getting Nikko as a puppy. Our first dog, also a Brittany was named Koby after Kobe, Japan where Ken and I lived teaching English before kids and serious life. Nikko sleeps most of the day but she still loves to run around like a puppy. She also loves to swim in our pool during warm weather, lap after lap. Brittany's are known to be very energetic and she lives up to that. She is the queen of the house and gets whatever she wants now that the kids don't live here any more.

I have been a member of SI Chico for 8 years and have worn many hats in my relatively short membership (compared to some!). I have been a Director Delegate twice, co-chaired Service (Giving) and Fundraising, served on Communications, Events and SI Objectives and was Vice President, President-Elect, and President during 2018-19. I love the club and all of you members. I am also very involved with Girls on the Run and have coached for many years and now serve as coach trainer and board member. I love to run and cycle and work out with President Sara. My husband Ken and I do a lot of traveling and recently bought an RV which we are really enjoying. We have two kids, Zoey (27) just got married in September to Luke who is terrific and our son Tanner (22) is in graduate school at the University of Redlands. Along with Ken, I write for Edible Shasta Butte Magazine and love learning about the many food related topics that we discover in our articles.
