A Message to Our Community Members
Trip to Washington, D.C.
The SC CTSI Community Engagement team recently attended the Association for Clinical and Translational Science's annual meeting in Washington, D.C., along with colleagues from the Southern California Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
At the conference, our team presented a poster titled "Listening to and Learning from the Community: A Model for Community Engagement and Building Trust." The poster highlighted the importance of academic-community partnerships in promoting health equity, especially in under-resourced and diverse communities.
Moreover, we had the privilege of attending the grand opening of the USC Capital Campus in Washington, DC. The event was a huge success with attendees from all over the world. We are excited to witness the impact this new hub for innovation and research expansion will have on the East Coast. We are proud of our team's achievements and look forward to continuing our mission of promoting health equity through community engagement and academic partnerships.

Shatock'a Bolden
Hello, my name is Shatock'a Bolden. I have been attending SC CTSI's workshops since the COVID-19 pandemic. A coordinator from SC CTSI reached out to our parent center inviting us to join their COVID-19 workshop. The workshop felt like a safe space to share and was also very welcoming. I was able to learn and voice my concerns about COVID-19. The team put a lot of us at ease by giving us the necessary information to navigate through the pandemic. I also informed my LAUSD coworkers about Community Engagement's workshops. Together we attended Research 101, Mental Health Workshop, and the Autism Awareness Workshop. These workshops are great for the community and have valuable information.
