Friends,

It is hard to believe that we are almost through the month of July! Amidst all of the rain, I hope you have found time for rest and reflection with your friends and family.

On Morrissey Boulevard and beyond, summer is an important period for our BC High community. Students, faculty, and staff take stock of our past year and prepare for the next. These quieter months offer an opportunity for growth that we seldom experience during the busy pace of the academic year. Our campus still hums with the energy from hundreds of summer campers learning and competing.

As we prepare for this fall, we look forward to welcoming our Eagles back to campus. But in a very special way, we’re also filled with hope to welcome alumni, family, and friends back for Homecoming Weekend and prospective families for Open House. Our beautiful campus is meant to be shared - and I very much look forward to reconnecting with our broader BC High community in person this year.

AMDG,

Grace Regan P'12
A Message from the Board of Trustees
In June 2020, the Board of Trustees engaged Latham & Watkins, LLP to conduct a comprehensive, independent review of the issues raised through the Instagram account @blackatbchigh and, more broadly, review the climate at BC High around issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. With the review now complete, on behalf of the Board, we are pleased to share Latham's report with you (redacted to protect confidential information).

Thank you to the Board for their leadership and guidance throughout the entire year-long review. We are also deeply grateful to those members of our community who courageously shared their lived experiences, stories, insights, and aspirations with the Latham team. With what we have learned, we will continue our work on being a more inclusive and just community. To that end, I’m honored and humbled to share an update on the February 2021 report on diversity, equity, and inclusion here at BC High. Many of Latham's recommendations began in earnest last September, and we are eager to continue our progress when we welcome students and faculty back in September.

We will be offering two ZOOM listening sessions on August 3 and August 5 at 4:00 p.m. for members of our community to provide feedback on the report as well as our ongoing DEI efforts. We will share registration information by the end of July. Additionally, there is a form on the website if you’d like to provide feedback directly to the Board.
Strong Spring Season for the Eagles
A thrilling Spring II MIAA season saw two BC High teams competing in State Championship games!

While Lacrosse fell 11-7 to St. John's Prep in a hard-fought game, Rugby bested Milton High School 24-14 to claim their 5th state title in 7 years, with one season lost to COVID-19.

Highlights from the rest of the season included impressive performances from Tennis and Rowing. Baseball led an impressive run into the playoffs before losing a hard-fought game to Franklin, 2-1, in the D1 South Semi-Finals. Track & Field finished #5 out of 32 schools in D1 States before top competitors made their mark at All States, where Ben Evee placed 2nd overall and set a new school record with a long jump of 22' 10", the 4x400 (Darjee, Crowley, Melo, Duggan) ran a 4th in MA 3:25, and Owen Duggan posted 1:57 in the 800m.
We are also incredibly proud of the many Eagles who received individual accolades. We look forward to sharing more as they are announced!

Raising the Bar in Unprecedented Times
As the uncertainty of the global pandemic continued, life on Morrissey Boulevard marched on. We are proud of the work of our community as they continued to raise the bar, set new sights, and grow and diversify the BC High family. Here’s a snapshot of our success from last year to this year!
Join us for Homecoming!
We are incredibly eager to welcome our alumni, family, and friends back to campus this fall for Homecoming 2021. Stay tuned for more details!
Welcoming A New Group of Eagles
After last year's incredibly successful enrollment cycle that will see us welcoming the largest and most impressive student body in nearly a decade to campus this fall, we are excited to continue telling the
BC High story to prospective families this year. While our Enrollment Office found innovative ways to engage families virtually last year, with an in-depth personal touch, we are thrilled to host our Open House in November in person. If anyone you know is interested in Catholic, private education, we encourage you to share the information!
A New Coach on the Boulevard
Please join us in welcoming Ed Mantie to the BC High community as our next Head Football Coach!

In 2006, he began teaching and coaching football before being named Head Coach of Westwood High in 2011 and Framingham in 2017. In his six years as head coach at Westwood, Coach Mantie won three League Titles and was twice named TVL Coach of the Year. At Framingham, he resurrected a program in just four years, winning the Bay State Title in his second year in 2018.

We look forward to his success on the Boulevard!
