It was big day for Community Church of the Hills on Sunday as we commissioned our newest Elder, Tom McEntire, after our congregation ratified our choice with a 100% "Yes" vote. As a small church, good men are hard to find, men who are willing to sacirifice their time for Kingdom business. The last time we commissioned an Elder was way back in 2017.
Tom and his wife Becky have been coming to our fellowship since 2016. They are both retired, so, we took that as a golden opportunity to put them to work. (Becky leads our evening Women's Bible Study.) They are a lovely couple!

Community Church of the Hills is an Elder-led church, led not by hierarchy, that is, from some higher up guy barking orders down a chain of command, nor led by the congregation, but led by many Elders.

The word used for “Elder” is interchangeable with “bishop,” “overseer,” and "pastor."

There is a consistent pattern in the New Testament of many Elders leading the local congregation and over 40 uses of the word in describing this type of church leadership.

1 Timothy 3:1Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task.

Bernie Sanders' Memes You Didn't See
Surely you laughed at the creative ways people used this photo of Bernie Sanders at the Presidential Inauguration. He was good-humored about it, too, raising $1.8 million for charity.
“Jane and I were amazed by all the creativity shown by so many people over the last week, and we’re glad we can use my internet fame to help Vermonters in need,” Sanders said.

The sum comes from the sale of merchandise with the Jan. 20 image of him sitting with his arms and legs crossed, clad in his brown parka and recycled wool mittens.

The groups that will benefit from the proceeds of the “Chairman Sanders” items include area agencies on aging to fund Meals on Wheels throughout Vermont, Vermont community action agencies, Feeding Chittenden, Vermont Parent Child Network, The Chill Foundation, senior centers in Vermont and Bistate Primary Care for dental care improvements in the state, Sanders' office said. -From the AP.
