NEW STATE RELIEF GRANTS TO INCLUDE ARTS ORGS!

A few details have been released about the new $500 million Small Business Grants program announced last week by Governor Newsom, who specified that "cultural institutions" are eligible to apply for grants up to $25,000.
Application period: December 18, 2020 - April 1, 2021
How to apply: CalOSBA will select an intermediary organization/firm by December 10; nonprofits will apply to the intermediary for grants
Applicant criteria: Must be in operation since June 2019, currently active, 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) status, annual revenue of $2.5 million or less.
Expenses that can be covered by the grant include: payroll costs, health care benefits, rent and utilities, costs associated with reopening, other COVID-related costs not covered through other grants.
ArtsOC strongly urges local nonprofit arts groups to apply as soon as the program opens to receive submissions, as demand is likely to exceed the funds available.

Accreditation signifies excellence to the museum community, to governments, funders, outside agencies, and to the museum-going public. Bowers Museum was initially accredited in 1993. All accredited museums must undergo a reaccreditation review at least every 10 years to maintain their elite status. Of the nation's estimated 33,000 museums, only 1070, or about 3%, are currently accredited. Read more here.
