National Novel Writing Month
Hey Kids! Do you love making up stories? Have you ever wanted to read a certain kind of book only to find out it doesn't exist yet? Why not write it yourself? Come join us in this writing program for the chaotic, wonderful thing that is National Novel Writing Month, "NaNoWriMo" as those in the know call it. Best suited for ages 9-12, though ages 6-11 are welcome!

No registration is required: Start by picking up a Grab & Go Kit from Chandler Downtown or Hamilton Libraries on Tuesday November 2. We will work together over the coming weeks toward creating our own unique pieces.

Join us each Tuesday in November for a series of in-person write-in sessions and pick up additional Grab & Go kits, at both branches. Final write-in session takes place on Tuesday November 30 at the Downtown Library.

Parents/Caregivers are encouraged to participate in the writing process with their children. This program encourages creative writing development, emotional development, reading comprehension and more!

Our Stories: Arizona’s Famous Gunfights and the Price of Violence- The Pleasant Valley War and the Power Shootout

Gunfights have long been a popular theme in Arizona history, made even more popular by Hollywood, fiction of the American West, and the tourism industry. Join historians Eduardo Obregón Pagán and Heidi Osselaer for a deeper look at gunfights in the state between the late 1800s and the early 1900s, exploring the social roots of this violence. What really happened? Dr. Pagán is the author of Valley of the Guns: the Pleasant Valley War and the Trauma of Violence, and Dr. Osselaer is the author of Arizona’s Deadliest Gunfight: Draft Evasion and Tragedy at the Power Cabin,1918.
Registration required.

Library Reads

LibraryReads is the monthly nationwide library staff picks list for adult fiction and non-fiction. LibraryReads represents collective favorites–the books library staff loved reading and cannot wait to share.

The November list of librarian favorites includes imaginative stories, some different takes on romance and suspense, and new offerings from well-known authors. Find out more about each selection, place holds, or put them on your “To Be Read” list for later!
Friends of the Chandler Public Library

The Season of Friendship is upon us.
During this time of gratitude and giving, the Friends of the Chandler Public Library thank those that have donated in the past, and once again ask for your annual support. A gift to the Friends is a powerful way to strengthen library programs and services that you enjoy, and fund efforts that build a better community. It is through generous individual, employee giving and matching gifts that the Friends of the Library has been able to sponsor the Library’s Grab and Go Kits, PressReader, Adult Literacy, Early Literacy, Our Stories, Read to Succeed, Summer Reading Challenge and so much more.

Your gift today makes an immediate and long-standing impact and ensures the Library’s resources are robust, allowing the Library to continue to meet the needs of people of all ages and interests. Please consider a one-time gift, or even a reoccurring gift, in support of your library. Your gift, your library.
