Full Hybrid Learning for Alternating Cohorts To Begin February 8, 2021
Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have successfully completed our phasing in of the hybrid schedule. It has gone extremely well. We have continually improved health and hygiene and attendance protocols, and we are now ready to move to the full hybrid schedule. Beginning on February 8, we will be alternating cohorts every other week for all students. In February and March, the Blue Cohort will attend in-person instruction during the weeks of 2/8, 2/22, 3/8, 3/22. The Gold Cohort is scheduled to be on campus during the weeks of 2/16, 3/1 and 3/15.

The parent survey for hybrid versus distance learning will be sent to parents on Friday, January 29. It is due by 3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2. This parent and student commitment will be for the entire 7.5-week period from February 8 through March 30. We ask that all parents complete this survey. In addition, your family's decision on hybrid or distance learning requires significant administrative preparation to properly place your son. Please choose an option that your family will be able to stay with for the entire period. Thank you for your attention to this important item.

An important note for tomorrow: Out of an abundance of caution with the weather forecast for tomorrow, Thursday January 28, classes will be in distance learning over Zoom. All classes will meet at their normally scheduled times. All athletic conditioning activities have been canceled for Thursday as well.

The A-Day bell schedule tomorrow (including) lunch would result in students being outdoors during their passing periods as well as their lunch period. The weather forecast indicates the likelihood of heavy rain, wind, thunder and lightning. These weather conditions pose an additional challenge to keep the windows open for good airflow to support health and safety. In-person instruction will resume on Friday for students in the Lower Division Blue Cohort.

Sincerely,

Charlie McGrath
Principal

Serra Parent Information Night for Scheduling on Thursday Night
Tomorrow night, Thursday, January 28 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., we have scheduled an evening for parents to find out more about how their sons will be scheduled for classes for the 2021-2022 school year. The evening will be separated into three separate meetings for parents: one for current freshman parents; one for current sophomore parents; and one for current junior parents. Parents will be responsible for completing their son’s course requests online through the PCR Parent Portal and sending that form to their son’s counselor before March 3. The links to these meetings were sent home yesterday, January 26. Although this is optional, please reserve time on your calendars for these meetings to obtain timely important information.
New Mask Requirements for

Due to new recommendations from the Archdiocese and the county, moving forward, gaiters and bandanas will not be allowed on campus.

Students must wear a disposable surgical mask or a cloth mask. If a student's mask does not meet this criteria, we will provide the student with a disposable mask.
Serra Mother-Son Mass for Sophomores on February 6

Normally we would gather together for a Mass celebrating the special relationship between mothers and sons, but we aren’t able to to that right now due to health protocols during a pandemic. Instead, we invite the mothers of sophomores to join us for a Mother/Son Prayer Morning. on February 6. Join us for a Saturday morning to spend with your son, in prayer, in remembering good and funny times together, and the chance to share these stories with your son.

Join us for this virtual prayer time that will give you one-on-one time with your son with guiding questions and prompts for getting your son to share some of his love for you.

This Mother/Son Prayer Time will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6.

Any questions please email our chaplain, Fr. Michael Liliedahl.
