The following events have important updates:
-
The Initiation Ceremony for Junior Classical League that was scheduled for tomorrow, Jan. 8, will be rescheduled in the Spring.
-
Alumni Day: Given the current health concerns in the Tulsa area, we have determined that we need to postpone the annual Alumni Day that was scheduled for tomorrow, Jan. 8.
-
Winter Court, scheduled for Friday, Jan. 29, has been postponed. We are currently working with the Oklahoma Aquarium for a later date.
-
The Half Day, scheduled for Jan. 29, will now be a full day of school, for all grades. On Jan. 29, all classes will end at 3:15 p.m. This will allow us to make-up time lost due to an early Christmas Break.
-
Our annual open house event, Literature Alive, to be held Feb. 20, has been canceled. We will look into creative solutions for Spring enrollment that will not involve an open house.

Purchase ACA items with the click of a button!
|
We have been working closely with a local vendor, and school neighbor, GreenHouse Outfitters, to create an online store. Right now, the store will include the standard uniform polo, and a few exciting new outerwear options that have been approved for uniforms.
We plan to continue to grow the store and eventually offer House shirts and other Spirit Wear clothing. Stay tuned for the launch of ACA's first online store!

School of Grammar's annual service project to benefit Tulsa's homeless
|
|
We will begin our new year and second semester with service in mind. We are going to be completing a service project the week of Valentine’s Day in the School of Grammar. To help complete this project and make it successful, we are asking for donations leading up to the week of Valentine’s Day, Feb. 8-12.
We will be packaging hygiene bags for the homeless. Each bag will contain essentials that are needed everyday. Each color House will be responsible for bringing specific requests for the bags. Then we will use these items to assemble bags, write letters and notes of prayer and encouragement, and place inside the bags. We feel this service project will reinforce the virtues of hope, work and compassion, while providing relevance and application.
Please know you are not limited to supplying items specifically to your House. We just feel this will eliminate the possibility of having excess of certain items. And please feel free to donate as many of each item as possible. It is our goal to have around 50 bags to package. This would be equivalent to approximately one bag per student.
These bags will then be given to a ministry that meets each Tuesday. Taco Tuesday is a ministry began by Mark & Victoria Bowling with Global Impact Ministries. It began almost 4 years ago just passing out muffins and visiting with the homeless. It’s grown significantly and now has volunteers from 8-10 churches every Tuesday. Serving anywhere from 60-150 homeless each week, the main focus is building relationships with the people and ministering to them by teaching/preaching the Word of God. There are people getting saved and/or rededicating their life to Christ almost every week.
Thank you! - Grammar School Teachers
|
|
Students in the School of Grammar are divided into color Houses as a way to include them in the House system, and also encourage interaction across the Grammar grades. Please have your student check with their teacher if they are unsure of their color House.
Each color House member is being asked to donate the following items:
Blue House: travel size shampoo/conditioner, deodorant (hotel samples are perfect!).
Green House: toilet paper, wash clothes (Each bag will contain one roll of TP)
Red House: toothbrush, toothpaste, body soap
Yellow House: chapstick, Nutri-grain bars, peanut butter crackers
Other items that can be used: cheap baby wipes and feminine hygiene products

Stuffed animals needed for Valentine's Store
|
The annual Performing Arts' Valentine's Store is just around the corner! Held the week leading up to Valentine's Day, the store is a huge hit with the students. Parents can purchase a gift to be delivered to their child on Friday, Feb. 12, and students are invited to buy treats and presents for their friends and family.
The top-selling items are always the stuffed animals! If you would like to donate new or gently-used stuffed animals to the annual Valentine's Store, please drop them off at the Front Office or leave them behind the glass cabinets in the Front Lobby. Contact Mrs. Rowland with any questions.

Office in need of small blankets
|
The Front Office could use 5-10 small fleece throw blankets to be used on the cot when a student is not feeling well and waiting for a parent. As we head into colder weather and flu season, the office staff want to have more bedding so laundry can be done weekly, rather than daily. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Geppelt or Mrs. Silver in the Front Office.
