The four church-wide Special Offerings help share Christ's love with millions of people around the world. Over the past two years, the Special Offering’s work has been informed by the idea that “the Church” is not an institution, but an action. For the church to be the Church, it must be enacted in relationship to those in need.
One Great Hour of Sharing
Serves the "least of these" among us by providing relief to those affected by catastrophic events, giving sustainable food resources to the hungry, and changing the structures that perpetuate poverty, oppression, and injustice. The offering is distributed to the Presbyterian Hunger Program, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, and Self-Development of People.
The Hillside congregation donated $523.46. The Presbytery of Greater Atlanta was sent 100% for distribution.
Pentecost
Helps the church encourage, develop, and support its younger members to build a life of faith with a foundation established during childhood. Sixty percent (60%) of the offering is distributed to the Presbyterian Mission Agency for ministries with youth, young adults, and child advocacy/children at risk. Forty percent (40%) of the offering remains at Hillside for ministries with children.
The Hillside congregation donated $956.05. Of this amount, $573.63 was sent to the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta for distribution and $382.42 remained at Hillside.
Peace and Global Witness
Provides tools and resources for the Church as we come together as active peacemakers, all times in all ways, like the reconciliation work in South Sudan, international advocacy at the UN, or a peace camp for kids in New Jersey. Seventy-five percent (75%) of the offering goes to support Presbytery and synod peace and witness efforts and the Presbyterian Mission agency peacemaking, reconciliation, and global witness efforts. Twenty-five (25%) remains at Hillside to support peace and witness efforts.
The Hillside congregation donated $1,390.98. Of this amount, $1,043.23 was sent to the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta for distribution and $347.75 remained at Hillside.
Christmas Joy
Responds to God's perfect gift, Jesus Christ, by assisting current and retired church workers in their time of need and developing future leaders at Presbyterian-related schools and colleges equipping communities of color. Fifty Percent (50%) of the offering goes to the Assistance Program of the Board of Pensions. Fifty percent (50%) is used for leadership development and education at Presbyterian-related schools and colleges equipping communities of color.
The Hillside congregation donated $2,730.00. The Presbytery of Greater Atlanta was sent 100% for distribution.
When we all do a little, it adds up to a lot.
